With the heat they pump out a PS5 or series X will definitely heat up a room I can confirm this. Our lad's room is usually like a furnace with heat from the xbox, his telly and all the raging he does at what has happened on-screen. I'll be switching the heating off and we'll all be living in there.

According to bbc we use the gas of a 2 bed flat and electricity of a 3 bed house, which isn’t bad for a 4 bed, 4 person household.

Well at least the country has been saved by Zahawi telling us to cut back on our energy use, good old Tories passing the buck to the public. Best. Chancellor. Ever.

My PS5 will be my main source of heating in the living room this winter, only half joking.
Also, just back from the local supermarket, dread going in on a Friday, usually packed with doddering oldies spending their pension money. Hardly a soul in there today, maybe it is starting to dawn on people...

Going to 6k a year, £500 a month, up 85%. Joy. Although my solar panels going up next week will bring it down (even if quite a little over winter months).
I think the estimates were the panels would provide half of my electricity, which is about 1290 a year in saving. Panels are about 5 grand, so the pay off is less than 4 years, while they will last 25 years or so (some parts will need to be replaced in that time).

true party of the people
(oh, and previous chancellor of course spent lockdown putting the finishing touches on his new heated swimming pool)
and fucking news reports interviewing "energy saving tips experts" on how to survive the winter by huddling the family together in one room and leave the others cold and damp, perhaps sleep in your coats?
still not enough "fuck" and "fucking" in this post to adequately represent my seething spitting rage at this fucking sack of fuckers, so bonus swears: fuck, cock, bastard fuck shit fuckers.

I would never have thought of that on my own. Thanks Nadim! Maybe I'll have avocado on bread instead of toast, with a raw egg on top, is that the sort of thing?

We're at a point where a multimillionaire who expenses his obscene energy bills from taxes is instructing the peasants to cut back on a vital utility. A utility supplied by companies making billions.

Just had a go at that. 74% increase around £80 more per month so we will be paying at least £188. With a baby that will be just over 7 months old going into November things are going to be tough. I've already told the Mrs to go to her mum's for the day when I'm at work as they will no doubt have the heating on anyway in an empty house. Mat pay is getting worse also. £625 this month and returning to full time work in January when the little one goes to nursery 4 days a week. I can see things getting ontop of us. May even be better if she quit work and ditched the nursery fee's but I'm not sure I earn enough to support us all.

My bill looks like it will be about 360 a month for electricity, no gas at all.

The rule of thumb is that cutting tax only ever benefits the rich. Of course the chart was going to look like that.

Anybody got recommendations for good value sustainable firewood? I'd suggest you look for a local tree surgeon, most of them run a side line in firewood and the wood will mostly be branches etc. from coppicing work and storm damaged trees. Wood is bulky and heavy, so usually the closer you can find a supplier the cheaper it will be!

I'd recommend hanging around the local recycling dump. There's usually a separate wood only skip. Just grab some as the rich dump old cabinets, dining tables etc.
Good luck.

The rule of thumb is that cutting tax only ever benefits the rich. Of course the chart was going to look like that. At last Sunak’s is the right shape, although it doesn’t benefit people anywhere near enough and it would never happen. Also why he didn’t do it that way before instead of claiming it was too difficult and expensive to do it based on peoples incomes etc.

I see the paper is saying that anyone on 30k a year, which is about the national average wage isn't it(?), is now in fuel poverty.
Joy. All the while Russia burns a fucktonne of surplus gas, killing us all by needless fossil fuel use out of spite.
What a special species we are. 😢
