It's quite nice of them to add lots of slicy bits to really carve up those pedestrians when you blast through a town at 160mph.

I'll stick these here because it doesn't really warrant its own thread and is car driving related.
Parking tickets. Back in 2018 I was issued a parking ticket at Stevenage Leisure park. For those that, for their sins, know the area will know that you can access the train station at the back of the car park, but you can't use the car park for station parking.
Back in 2018, I parked back there and helped my wife and 2 kids up the stairs with their bags and said goodbye (not forever - she was going to her sisters for a few days). I was gone for no more than 5 minutes, but came back to a ticket as I had 'left the site'. I appealed the ticket and explained what had happened, to which they basically said, fuck off you left the site. I was pissed off and didn't pay and didn't hear anything else.
I now have a legal letter threatening court action if I don't pay £160. I'm wondering whether I should just pay it to save myself the hassle, or stick to my principles and fight it. I feel they are trying to scare me into the former as the latter surely isn't worth their time and effort.
Anyone had any experience this situation?

Ah, that’s bullshit to come back four years later. Worth the advice forums at Peppipoo (is that right?) / POPLA?

I would just pay, tbh. Sounds like youre lucky for it to be only £160.
In my limited experience of challenging parking tickets/driving fines, they have either fucked up and its not your car or they have you banged to rights and wont move an inch.

Yeah for what it is I should probably just pay, but just feels wrong to get a ticket for just helping my wife up the stairs with the bags and kids. I suppose technically I 'left the site' but thought maybe some common sense could be applied. That's probably too much to ask though.

I doubt they give the slightest of fucks. If they did, they would choose a different job.

I feel its 'unfair' but they've probably got me on a technicality. I guess I'll have to just pay it.

There's lots to be said for fighting these things but it really depends on your attitude and if you want the hassle, some people don't like these things hanging over them forever more other people are will say fight it but I suspect I'd just suck it up. I wonder how many of the keyboard warriors professing that paying is the suckers route have ever actually been in the situation.

Only once had this, when my wife stayed in Lidl longer than the allotted 90 mins (by 5 mins) as she was doing a big shop for my daughter's birthday. I wrote to the CEO, included receipts etc and thet cancelled it.
That MSE thread is good though, follow it to a tee and you should be ok. Depends if you can be arsed though.

I think I probably can't be arsed to be honest. I don't really have the time and don't really want it hanging it over me.

I know the place well Rob, and surely there’s a time limit for prosecution- it’s 6 months for Magistrates court traffic offenses, I think? You could request a hearing and see what evidence they have, I’ll be fucking amazed if they have cctv or if any parking warden is still there 4 yrs later as a witness. You could argue that you escorted your wife to the boundary and then bought a coffee in McDs but after this time, can’t prove it as they haven’t prosecuted in a timely manner etc etc
I dunno, they’re wankers there. I was more sympathetic when commuters parked all day and they needed ti do something, but now they sit in the office and watch anyone leave a car and walk to the station stairs, then ticket straight away. It stinks

My car alarm was going off all night, so I just had to leave it unlocked in the drive. This morning I locked it again, and same thing. On further investigation there was a spider walking on the seat.... Could this be enough to set off the alarm?
It is locked again, and I am waiting it to start alarming again.

Depends entirely on the car and what the sensors are like. Some detect movement, some pressure (on seats etc), some opening and closing of doors. Some, all of them. And probably other things, too.

Where is this information displayed upon entry to the car park?

It went off again, so either wasn't the spider or there's a pile of them hidden away!
Have unplugged the sensor under the bonnet now to see if it's dodgy.

I've got a leak where water is coming into the spare wheel well in the boot of my honda jazz. Looking online, it's fairly common with this car and it's age. So I've gone through all the youtube videos and forums etc, and it's apparently a bloody minefield. It could be anywhere. Could be the trims on the top, could be the seals, could be the joins between the seams of sheet metal, etc etc.
I've sealed the trims. I've sealed the seals. I've sealed around the seams. It's still leaking.
At this rate, it's going to be more sealant than it is car.
