I fell down a YouTube rabbit hole the other night and found myself watching 'best audiophile recordings' vids. Not a jazz lover really but I started to listen to "Jazz at the Pawnshop" and wow, they weren't kidding. It's a fantastic headphone listen, it puts you right there. Great soundstage and separation, plus you can hear the clinks of glasses and squeaks of shoes in the background. Great to just close your eyes and relax too, almost meditative. youtu.be/5OL_x_nYamY |

Fucking in-store radio. They put "Fresh" by Kool & The Gang on the music rotation, and thanks to the first episode of Doom Patrol, I can't ever hear that song now without getting a mental image of Brendan Frasers' arse-crack as Alan Tudyk narrates the words "Smells like hero to me!"

Wow. I think I hate that song even more now than I did back when it came out, and back then it made me want to claw my eyes out. Though in hindsight that wouldn't have helped very much, but I'm not sure what the equivalent would be for ears.   |
