Had someone yesterday for CRANK that had _ R A _ _ After his second go and then guessed CRANK on third go. I called bullshit but he claims he just tried if from all the other words that could go here. I think I'd guessed Drank on my third and then Frank and finally Crank as I was running out of vocabulary. |

You can eliminate alot of possibilities from whatever your first word is, even if you get all of the letters wrong.

My process is as follows:
1) Type in "minge."
2) Giggle like a schoolgirl for five straight minutes.
3) Compose myself.
4) Take it from there.

Yeah it's interesting, seeing how even getting none of the letters steers you in a certain direction
It can weirdly be better to eliminate more letters early on than get close but have a wider range of options

English not being my first language and it not allowing words that aren’t in the dictionary it’s more a logic puzzle than a word puzzle for me. Like I’m not 100% sure what today’s word even means.
It’s like 3 minutes of moderate fun but I’m also not sure why this blew up all of the sudden.

Like we said earlier it's quite similar to the mastermind game. If you've played that and enjoyed it, then chances are you'll enjoy this too. I'd definitely struggle with it if English wasn't my first language.
One go a day and six attempts is absolutely perfect imo and why it's such a viral hit. It's got that "oh shit, I might not get it!" thrill, and when you beat it there's a definite urge to share it with someone else.

In regards to good starter words, anything with alot of vowels and major consonants are good for eliminating words and finding letters;
Moist
Train
Coast
Etc.
I think my mum cheats with "beaus", but wordle allows it, so hey-ho.
