It's due out in April isn't it? It's just a remake so not sure what else new they could show. Some surprises would be nice though. Would be nice to know what they've been doing with AW for the last few months. Maybe they've added new campaign missions. Or a romance element

Would be nice if they add some new content, but I doubt that will happen. Though the time may have been spent on altering the art style a bit.

It could literally be nothing. Nintendo do sit on projects until they feel its the right time to release them. Or to fill bigger voids. Warioware was one of those games and even Super Mario Odyssey was ready to launch the Switch had Zelda not been ready.

Not sure where else to post this, a Nintendo Direct just finished. No BotW 2 news yet but the holiday 2022 slot is still open, so fingers crossed? Some good stuff apart from that, Fire Emblem Warriors 2: Three Houses Boogaloo and a new Mario Strikers(!) out in June, Advance Wars 1+2 April 8 and some very cool old remasters, the best/most unexpected of which I'll put under a spoiler so as not to spoil the fun it's Live A Live. Anyone remember that? 😀 New demo for Triangle Strategy as well, you can also transfer progress to the full game.

Oh, and they just casually ended with Xenoblade 3 and it apparently has ties to the previous two games... I definitely spotted Nia and Melia lookalikes in the trailer, whether it's actually them I don't know 😅 Out September 2022 so definitely something to fill the time until BotW comes 🙂

That was a great direct. So much stuff announced it’s hard to remember what actually got announced. And we’re probably due two more main directs, a couple of minis and a few indie direct to come this year too.
My poor poor wallet.

What the hell was that music during Splatoon? Nightmare inducing.

Yeah that was pretty great, loads of nice surprises. Really happy that the MK8 tracks are included with NSO premium sub.

Yeah, that was a really great Direct. Was plenty of stuff to be looking forward to, even if there wasn't any really big surprise announcements, excluding Xenoblade. Both big and small games.
Wasn't sure about the Kirby game beforehand, but the trailer sold me. Looks like a classic high quality Nintendo game.

YouTube chat was FUN at the end, so many people dismissing everything else because "no Zelda" 😄
Admittedly it would have been very nice to get a trailer but calling the entire Direct a fail without it is a big stretch... Besides, if it wasn't going to be on the 5 year BotW anniversary there's very little chance they'd just randomly drop it during, say, summer. At this point I'm expecting either Christmas 2022 or whenever Switch 2/Pro/X/Z/whatever is released, as the system seller.
Then there's those who were crying out for Smash news when Sora was clearly stated to be the end of DLC for Ultimate...

Xc3 is brilliant news. And coming this Sept!
So potentially the close of this year has xenoblade 3 sept, bayonetta 3 oct/nov and botw 2 nov/Dec.
That would be a superb end of the year for me.
Realistically bayonetta 3 will be niv/Dec, botw 2 will be mar/April 23 and metroid prime 4 will be nov/Dec 23.

Excited about Xenoblade 3 and Switch Sports!
Live A Live looks dope as fuck.
And the new Kirby is looking really incredible.
and yeah, glad for finally new Mario Kart tracks, and having the expansion being included with the NSWO+. I don't have Animal Crossing so that expansion didn't benefit me, but I love Mario Kart.

I find it hard to get excited about anything Xenoblade as the first thing that pops into my head are the awful regional accents in the last one. Plus I've played each of them since the Wii for 20+ hours and then drifted away, so I probably shouldn't buy another one...

Also the terrible field skills or whatever they're called. And summons being locked behind look boxes for no reason

Excited for:
Fire Emblem Warriors - loved the first one, played it a ton Kirby - obvs, it's Kirby! Looks great. Advance Wars - two of the greatest games ever, a must-buy for me. Xenoblade Chronicles 3!!! - in September!! I'm sure that was Nia and Melly in the trailer with masks on. So hyped!!!
Very good direct.

Man that was a proper great direct, and it didn't even feature BotW2! Can't wait for Switch Sports, I still have my Wii U set up and Wii Sports gets a lot of action with my kids. I showed them Switch Sports this morn and they were literally screaming with excitement Kirby and Splatoon 3 look awesome, my boy is loving the look of those (I didn't expect to be excited by a Kirby game myself but I gotta admit, that looks great fun).

Just looking at the difference in price between buying the Mario Kart 8 expansion by itself (£22.50) and the overpriced upgrade to the expansion pass Nintendo Online (£17 more than standard). Seems to really not be worth buying the expansion by itself.
Well played Nintendo, well played.
It does slightly depend on how long you have to wait for all the tracks to be released, as if it takes longer than the year for them to all be out it isn't such a good deal. Also not sure if you keep the expansion if your subscription runs out and you don't renew.

Just get a family account and share the price. I'm sure there are plenty on here that'll help.

Is Triangle Strategy a grid base TRPG like Tactics Ogre? That looks pretty good and comes out before AW
Not seen anything else yet that appeals to me. Is Klonoa any good?

Just been reading a preview on VGC as I really like the look of it, they compared it to Final Fantasy Tactics. Did say it was a slow burner though, demo is out now and your progress carries over so gonna check it out. Love the art style too.

Pretty decent direct. 48 extra tracks in Mario Kart 8. Thats 96 courses in total by the end of 2023. How on earth do they expect to better that with a sequel unless Mario Kart 9 is a live service game?
Excited for Switch Sports. I already had Kirby and Advance Wars pre-ordered. Splatoon 3 is still a definite, though the trailer there wasn't especially exciting. I also have to wonder if I'll finish DQ11 before Xenoblade 3 arrives. Jeez.
This is shaping up to be a big year for software output.

So to recap: Legends Arceus is already out Elden Ring at end of month Triangle Strategy and Kirby in March Advance Wars and Lego Star Wars Skywalker Saga in April Mario Strikers and Fire Emblem Warriors 2 in June (plus I should probably get properly stuck in Three Houses itself finally, otherwise I'll understand sweet fuck all story/reference-wise) And finally Xenoblade 3 in September
And that's just the stuff we know about already, just from Nintendo (Elden Ring and Star Wars aside) and only if I'm not missing anything. Jesus... " 'I'll work through my backlog in 2022' and other jokes you can tell yourself", apparently 😅
If my wallet doesn't strangle me in my sleep this will be a very strong year indeed...
