Occasionally I'll do some half decent driving on the Tuesday night MP sessions then fuck it up! Brokenkey's penalty was from passing me under yellows about a second before they went.

I’m hardly touching this which is surprising me, biggest bugbear by far is the stupidity of the single player proposition. There’s no doubt at all it’s a fab hot-lapping-of-your-fave-track game, though ACC handling still feels more sophisticated on a pad to me, but the absolute bollocks that is starting at the back of the grid is ridiculous. It’s not a racing game, it’s a tune your car up enough to pass moving chicanes before the time runs out game. Is that really good enough for PlayStations premiere racer? It’s fucking not. Just had to do a couple of American car menu books and I hate driving those angry bricks so much. Managed to tune a Focus up enough to be competitive for the first three but used a Chevrolet for the next three, had to spend nearly a100k on the sodding thing to get the menu book done and I’ll never use it again because it’s a big skip on wheels with handling like a epileptic. Grrrrr! I don't know this for a fact but I figured the rolling starts were so prominent as a way of balancing game performance in the PS4 version. Even though grid starts would be fine in the PS5 version I suppose they can't really make the events different. |

Ah man, I hated those US menu books for the same reasons. I also get annoyed by the rolling start - being 25/30 seconds behind every time is bloody annoying.

Yeah, the crappy (but true to life) handling US bricks and the rolling starts are pissing me off, too.
This supposed great racing simulator that doesn't have qualifying, just random rolling grids with the player at the back of every single one. Ugh. I'm enjoying large amounts of it, particularly the Dual Sense feedback but the rolling starts can fuck off.

Custom races allow you to do lots of things, grid starts, what place you're in the grid, weather, time etc. It's incredibly stingy in the credits but it gives you a lot of control.
Hopefully they'll add a full race experience with quali and grid starts in new missions or menus.

The muscle car bits were by far the worst part of the campaign. Just stick the TC right up and blast through them, there's not many.

If only there had been more of a collision on that final straight and I could have reclaimed 1st place  We really do get some great races though, especially when we all pick the same car with minimal mods (and it's not wet, and am not a minute behind the pack after the first lap). |

If anyone was wondering the update today means you may need to tweak any Tomahawk X glitch builds but it's still possible to get below 600 to exploit Tokyo Expressway. I only bought mine yesterday and didn't bother tweaking it I just wanted to see how stupidly fast it was and get a couple of trophies. Today I thought I'd give it a go and it is still stupidly fast and I don't think I've ever racked up more penalties in a single race.
Won by three laps and got the clean race bonus.

Better than that, the new tune for it works with intermediate tyres as well, so finally been able to do that tour 800 one at Fuji in the rain.

Didn't realise it didn't work with inters before, I put those on to start with on Tokyo Expressway and switched to RH when they started to fall apart and things started to dry.

Brokenkey is a very bad person for his track selection and yet I ended up enjoying it but clearly my PS5 didn't so it glitched my internet connection. It was a fun night of racing though, still can't believe winning 500K on the spin I got early on either. Shame I didn't get the 10 gold bars though, didn't realise that was possible, 1M credits would have been nice.
Edit : for those who didn't do the Cappuccino race, my car's lovely livery.

Won that new 1hr race last night which was good fun but highlighted to me how they need to get some events on with 1:1 weather scaling. Its be nice to have a bit of time to work out when bad weather is going to land rather than it zooming onto the radar within half a lap. Genuinely some of the best on-track weather effects I've ever seen but they feel pretty wasted up to now because of the scaling.
