Christ, have you lot been competing in the missions while I was busy playing Elden Ring? Some pretty impressive results. And how did gamingdave (think it was him) manage 11 kilometers in the eco race with the blue pickup?! I did that driving in the highest gear at all times, never with the foot flat on the floor. Would have to shift down for going up the hills, but would always coast down them. I ran out of fuel coming into the home straight and then somehow, without touching anything the car continued to roll at 2mph till it got to the incline and finally stopped. I wouldn't recommend it though, more boring than the Fiat 500 race. |

I kind of like the direction GT7 has taken with this - racing as fast as you can is boring, let's make everyone think about fuel economy.

To be fair, it's only that one event, and I had the gold time with more than half of the fuel left. There's one event with a single lap that requires fuel saving, but other than that I don't recall any others from the menus (though only done the first few missions).
Fuel conservation can be fun in longer online races though, especially if combined with mismatched tire wear making pit decisions more important.

There's a fuel saving mission on the Nordschleife in a Veyron in the fifth set of missions, it's not that difficult but Veyrons are not light and at times you discover just how steep some of the hills are when you're travelling rather quickly freewheeling.

These endurance events really highlight the absurdity of us still having to do rolling starts near the back of the field. I've lucked out a few times, but in others I've been caught trying to manage an instant 25 second gap during my first stint. Deciding between fuel and tyre saving while trying to find a sweet spot of just maintaining that gap, or going hell for leather to catch up and needing extra pit stops feels extremely cheap on some of the tracks.
Feels far more game than simulation in these races. Some qualifying or even a standing grid start are absolute no brainers that are for some reason completely ignored.

Having a Sport like qualifying and race set up for single player and multiplayer lobbies would be a great addition. Along with a frickin' weather forecast.

Talking of fuel saving daily race C is bang on for getting round it without having to pit. First time round the indicator told me I had 0.7 fuel left coming into the chicane (at Cataluyna) on the penultimate lap.
Decided to pit. Next race I managed to fuel save enough to give me the extra lap. Was pretty chuffed with myself.

I’m struggling to enjoy this at the moment. Without wishing to out nerd anyone here, I know Green Hell pretty well, having lapped it for years and years in various games, but, doing the circuit experience today I just felt really clumsy. I’ve turned sensitivity down to minus 2, lowest it’ll go- and it still feels like using a blunt knife. There’s no fine adjustment in the control, just twitch left, twitch right. It’s an imprecise way to try to hit lines and it’s frustrating more than enjoyable. Bah!

I'm having a huge amount of fun driving the Red Bull X2014 Junior had a "make more credits than anything else" video pop up on my YouTube suggestions and it extolled the virtues of the car. Gave it a bash and it's a lot of fun just driving in anything that requires under 700pp as on racing hard tyres it's .49 under the limit. It seems to sip fuel and doesn't eat tyres either, doing the Brands Hatch Touring Car 700 race I didn't have to pit as even on fuel map 1 from the start as it had enough in the tank to go without stopping.
I imagine it'll be reclassified at some point as it's a bit daft that it can do touring car races.

Tend to use stuff from the menus but we had a couple of Mono races last week and a go kart wouldn't be a bad idea. Nothing too pricey although we do get the 917 Living Legends out now and again but they were a pre-order bonus so if you didn't we won't get them out.

Yeah 'Leave Party' kills it. You need to find the other option to exit party or whatever they call it these days. It's not very intuitive. I think as long as you've got more than the owner of the party as a member, not necessarily active in it, leave party won't kill it. |
