I was on a project call once when Michael Buble was walking around our head office. It was hard to keep control when attendees were shouting “OH MY GOD!!!! He’s here, he’s at my desk! MICHAEL I LOVE YOU!”

Ed Sheeran. Technically he’s not doing anything wrong. His music is bland but inoffensive, he seems like a nice guy… but holy shit he is everywhere! He’s even doing Classic FM with Moira Stewart this weekend, and after that he’s doing a gig on Pokemon Go. I literally can’t escape. He’s like Aunt Selma’s per iguana JubJub - he’s everywhere you wanna be! And he’s just turned up in Red Notice. No. Fucking. Escape.

I want to say Simon Pegg too, but really it's Spaced and the Cornetto Trilogy that annoy me, and they're not a person. They're funny, but really not that funny. Shaun of the Dead is an all-time classic. The others? Ehh. Hot Fuzz > Shaun of the Dead.

I know that's the general consensus but I just don't see how. They're both better than The World's End, at least. I never see anyone caping for that one.

Spaced was incredible. SOTD was superb. Hot Fuzz was ok just about. Worlds end was fucking appalling.

I quite liked Paul, in a this is just silly nonsense fluff sort of way.
Simon Pegg’s best role was the manager of Goliath Books.

I liked Pegg if Spaced through to, and including, Worlds End. I think Worlds End was flawed but if you viewing it as a commentary on a suicidal alcoholic it had a strange resonance.
Have it admit he's insufferable outside of Edgar Wright related stuff.

I know that's the general consensus but I just don't see how. They're both better than The World's End, at least. I never see anyone caping for that one. I'll cape for it (honestly not heard that phrase before but think I get the gist) on the basis that there's a level of tragedy and ugly depression lurking in the heart of the protagonist. I think there's a very good chance that before the alien invasion stuff happened, Gary King was absolutely going to attempt suicide (again) after the pub crawl. I think one of the thing that links the "Cornetto trilogy" isn't just the genre movie stuff, but each has a protagonist who are stuck in their own kind of rut (including Hot Fuzz; being uptight and a stickler for the rules is, in a way, as much a rut as Sean's ennui or Gary's depression. Traits that will ultimately drive the protagonist to ruin - but then the protagonist's negative trait is disrupted by the film genre pastiche. I'm pissed whilst writing this. Plz ignore.

I like The World’s End. It’s got more depth than the others and an amazing soundtrack for people my age

That reminds me how much I hate The Last Leg in general. It’s not very good, but I love this: That is excellent.

It's been a long time since I've seen it, but everything you've said sounds on point. That's fair. It had more to say than the previous films. I guess I just didn't find the followups as funny as Shaun, which is why I never felt the need to rewatch them.

I don't think Hot Fuzz or The World's End are as funny or as outright enjoyable as Shaun of the Dead. And I don't think any are as good as Spaced. But I do think The World's End has an unusual level of emotional weight - maybe not depth, but weight - that drives it's characters.

The Guy Martin hate at the start of the thread I get. I don't watch his programs. But he is on the spectrum so I cut him a bit of slack. I'm not sure exactly what he's diagnosed with its in the family of Asperger's. That's is why his shows are narration heavy and the narration is not done by him. He's just a really enthusiastic machine/car guy.
I hadn't paid him any attention until the marketing person at my work told me how she'd tried to hire him to open an event and then the complications and limitations made it unrealistic.

I’ve not got a problem with The World’s End. I think it’s been unfairly maligned. Maybe because it reminded me of going in impossible pub crawls in interchangeable pubs. It’s better than Paul at any rate.

As a counter post to this topic, I met Vanessa Feltz this past week - who I’d always thought was someone pretty high on the annoying spectrum. She was with her granddaughter, they were wearing matching outfits, and she couldn’t have been sweeter. I stand corrected.

Damon albarn.
Maybe he should annoy me, but he just comes across as a total c-unit.
Mark King (from level 42, so probably not a celebrity now). Still got a lot of dislike for him. His big stupid head and bland mor shit still rankles about 40 years later.
There are a lot of others, so i'm sure it will require more posting over time.

Did she actually have sideburns in real life as appears or is it a weird hair thing?!

Hmmm, yeah. I appreciate how he can be found funny but I don't think I've ever laughed at anything he's said. At least he's got a personality unlike Josh fucking Widdecombe. That reminds me how much I hate The Last Leg in general. The first few times I watched it, I had never heard of Josh Widdicombe and spent most of the episode trying to work out what his disability is. Turns out he's just not very funny. Which should be quite limiting for a comedian but he doesn't let it stop him. He's an inspiration to everyone out there who was also born unfunny.

David Fucking Attenborough. Fuck right off. Ok, I’ll bite. Why? He ruins all the shows he is on now with his boring fucking voice and insisting on being in front of the camera and at the end of the show doing a long bit on how it was filmed. His voice is extremely annoying as well.

The long behind the scenes bit is literally filler for BBC. You'll notice that the actual content itself is about 45 minutes on almost all nature docs now to allow for commercial broadcast and the BBC tops it up to an hour with, basically, dvd extras.

If the answer was “he’s literally at EVERY dinner party I ever get invited to…” I might have accepted it. But nah, he’s a national treasure. It’s not until you spend time in abroad and realise how fucking awful their documentaries are that you realise how good the BBC are at that sort of thing.
