I would say I feel like the Met basically not taking any actions suggests this really is going to be a big moral outrage over nothing. Then again, not like Met doesn't have form in making mistakes...

It’s very hard to piece together the real story here, but my guess is someone has unknowingly bought some underage pics off an OnlyFans or something similar.
If that is the case the real story should be how sites like that knowingly turn a blind eye to this sort of thing. It’s weird how even with all the Andrew Tate stuff there is still no real clampdown on the horrendous exploitation that occurs in the webcam industry.

I guess if we're all trying to guess who it is, we're not asking questions about Osbourne.

Why would the Sun throw themselves under a bus to protect Osborne

Fuck knows, he's a Tory, probably had loads of dealings with them in the past. Why would they desperately try to take down a TV personality? There's always an agenda. I'm guessing it was a massive misjudgement. Maybe there's two angles to it.

I'm guessing it was a massive misjudgement. Maybe there's two angles to it. I think it's important to note that their readership will almost certainly consider it to be a "woke lefty" presenter and that's probably what's really going on here. The Beeb couldn't be controlled by putting top Tories in charge, that all fell unsurprisingly apart after just a few months as the presenters banded together behind Lineker. So it's back to the attacks on the people who dared to stand up to their masters. That, Emperor Rupe and his stormtroopers would definitely be up for.

There’s quite clear reasons why News Corp would attack the BBC via its employee, I’m struggling to figure out why they’d be so keen to keep the spotlight off the chair of the British museum who’s been out of politics for 6 years. He’s not really worth much to them any more

It would certainly go some way toward explaining why the youth has said they believe they weren’t doing anything wrong and the parents are outraged. I can’t imagine those types of websites are forensic in their vetting either so very plausible 16 and 17 year olds are uploading content where they shouldn’t

So this was a Right Wing dead cat then? its kept Osbourne and Johnson out of the news and also stoked up anger towards the woke BBC and its presenters. Sunak has just commented too to try and keep the embers burning a little longer....

The "victim" will inevitably be outed and they'll be quids in if they keep the profile open.

It did feel like a bit of a conveniently timed bit of news on a pretty bad week of news for the blues (think the Sun has known about it since April) Chris Pincher not saying if he'll step down as an MP, detention centre redecorating and the ongoing mortgage chaos...
It does seem a bit too suicidal of them now that the victim is denying it.

I think it was Kendrick and the murals they were deflecting from more than Osborne. There is literally nothing worse to The Sun than Brits pitying migrant children. Brits wanting migrant children dead is what they are after. So they dug up the best old bollocks they could, played it like they always do, except even The Sun needs proper journalistic professionalism occasionally, and so look like the cunts they are when is becomes apparent they don't have any.

It feels like an act of extreme hubris on the sun's part. They've got away with shit like this for years, so how could it possibly go wrong, even though we haven't got all the pieces lined up.

Entirely. They'll probably get away with this one too, largely, but they look like idiots. Trevor Kavanagh must be really, really, really angry. Upset, hurting, humiliated, ashamed to be such a fucking piece of shit. Hopefully.

Actually reading under the headline they do say that 1 in 6 correctly identified the person. So, a list of 6 people was given to the people asked, with no "don't know" option, and 1 in 6 got it right. Eh? Is this right?! Can’t bring myself to go anywhere near their PoS website. But they asked people to basically guess from a list of six, and it’s news that one in six got it right?!

Politics aside, I’m sure we’d all be a little bit concerned if we discovered some middle aged bloke off the telly was buying nudes of our teenage son/daughter even if it was consensual and legal.

Watching Sky News' coverage of this has been fascinating. They've had interviews with a number of media experts and lawyers today who are now more concerned with the way The Sun has handled this than they are the BBC, but they're choosing to completely ignore that angle and continue to harp on about the BBC like they're guilty of a Machiavellian cover-up.
Very much feels like they're desperately clinging on to an attack line at this point.

I'm not delving into the paper/website to find out and I doubt they actually show the survey question. I did see The Guardian live blog mention that the person has been "widely named online", but no idea where it has all come out.

Yes, but if it was suspected to be illegal (as reported), I'd be going to the police, not that shit rag. And if it wasn't illegal, it all just stinks of a) the parents wanting some cash and b) News Corp using the situation as a prime opportunity to get at the Beeb.

If no law has been broken maybe going to The Sun is the next best thing to get some sort of revenge. I agree I can empathise with the parents even if they’re being a bit cunty.
