If I could pick one paper to end it would be the Daily Mail.

In the Mirror.. The parents of the young person at the heart of the BBC presenter scandal say they stand by their allegations and question how their child can afford a lawyer, it's been reported. I guess 35k doesn't go far these days. They'll have it pro bono because of the publicity and the possibility of costs in court following the inevitable libel cases later.

At least there’s one thing we can now be sure of, Victoria Newton, the editor of The Sun, will have had a phone call from old Rupe asking her what the bloody hell is going on.

People are predicting The Sun will get shut down for printing something untrue? Have these people read The Sun?

At least The Sun have pivoted today’s headline to line up with their real motivation, attacking the BBC.
DAD: BBC ARE LIARS
Along with a large header statement from the step-dad saying they spoke to the BBC for an hour to report it in May. Which totally contradicts the claim on Friday that they hadn’t had a proper interview about it with the BBC.
I think we’re dealing with people who are a bit thick, have their own interpretation of reality and work for The Sun; the parents don’t seem much better either.

It's quite remarkable that they went in so heavily on this seemingly just on the account of someone's parents. Someone who is an adult. What a shitshow.

Watching the BBC News coverage of it has been interesting what with the BBC no commenting it to them so they’re guessing what the BBC might know while having no direct contact with the victim or the family or The Sun.
The lead reporter having a surname that’s s homonym for an old top shelf magazine adds another layer of mindbending to the discussions too.

Oh, the Daily Mail say 1 in 6 know who it is! Now I can understand that statistic, because if it is in the Daily Mail it must be nonsense.
If 1 in 6 people actually knew, I'm pretty certain it would already be all over Twitter (and the best source for current affairs details, the Font Geek forum) and that 1 in 6 would go up drastically very quickly. My guess is that 1 in 6 THINK they know who it is, with half of them saying it is Gary Linekar.

Actually reading under the headline they do say that 1 in 6 correctly identified the person. So, a list of 6 people was given to the people asked, with no "don't know" option, and 1 in 6 got it right.
