Let's analyse... Blue Peter - Katie Hill. Often in a swimsuit. No issues there. Wimbledon - sexy and it only got sexier as time went on. Nothing weird there. Countdown - I never was a Carol Vorderman fancier but I guess. The Rachel Riley years were faptastic. Gladiators - Jet. Absolutely nothing weird about that other than it being broken up by equal amounts of oily muscly men. Only one I think is slightly weird is the news as I never found any of the readers that erotic and you;d be interrupted more often than not with images of starving Ethiopians and Bob Geldof. |

This leads me to the question: did weird fetishes become more or less common before the internet?
Before the internet, you'd be reduced to fapping over anagrams and Big Ben going boing. This would condition you to find the strangest things erotic.
After the internet, you'd at least find it easier to find actual sexual content to relieve yourself to, but the availability of weirdness became routine. It would normalise being aroused by kinky stuff.
Someone should do a study. Is your average boomer more or less kinky than gen x and below? A retrospective cohort study investigating the impact of the internet on sexual proclivities.

That's a really good question, I think the internet bringing many people together has definitely allowed people to explore the the things that they were thought they were alone in thinking. I think of things like cartoons where you had sexualised anthropomorphic animals and I suppose the internet has brought that kind of thing to its inevitable conclusion with Furries. Did anyone see the C4 documentary yesterday with Foxy, Gambaccini and Sir Cliff? I feel sorry for them sure but at the same time my mind cannot help think “they all got away with it”. Which is all kinds of wrong but hard to shake. Which is I guess a major point being made in the documentary about the media and these sorts of cases.

Well yeah, the narrative is always "where there's smoke there's fire" with these stories. The allegation is reported, regardless of it's veracity because they know the public eats this shit up. This thread is an example of how quickly a celebrity's reputation can be turned to shit, even just by association, and even when they've been cleared. Private Eye knew that the guy who made claims against Cliff Richard was a full on fantasist, because they couldn't corroborate anything that he claimed, even small insignificant details were made up. But still the BBC didn't do any due diligence at all when he went to them after that. They were duped because both the post Savile culture meant they were being far more credulous with claims of this nature, as an attempt to correct for the culture of incredulity prior, and because it's novel. I know that post-Saville everyone was being rightly super cautious but there were some who no one seemed interested in whose (alleged) noncey behaviour had been public knowledge since the 60s and 70s. Basically the cool ones like Bowie, Jimmy Page and John Peel.
Although you could probably have arrested every performer on TOTP from the 70s and had a pretty high hit rate.

I'm also not sure Tracy Morgan is liable if the only thing mentioned is that he rented the after-party location. I could see the argument against Fallon though, if he and Sanz were drinking with the teenaged defendant and her friends. |
