Russell Brand being rapey and/or a paedo doesn't feel like a shocking reveal Its basically been his…err… brand… for the last twenty years. I can remember him and Noel Fielding on Buzzcocks promising someone they could get them “any girl in Camden” and it sounding really sleazy with too much a ring of truth even back then. They were probably talking about those horse statues. |

Brand sems to say that Joe Rogan has been treated the same, but despite Rogan (rightly) being called out for peddling misinformation and being a bit of a right wing shill etc, I don't recall him being accused of being rapey or noncy. That's entirely a Brand issue.
Depressing how many people are lapping up his bullshit though, without even seeing any of the evidence.

They’ll still lap it up even if there is evidence.
If it was from separate independent trustworthy sources, in 4K with his face clearly visible and it documented his every movement on the day in question, his followers still wouldn’t believe it and would say that it’s the media or state faking it to stop him speaking truth.

I’ve got a friend who, be it intentionally or coincidentally, ended up being a bit of a Russell Brand clone. I love him, but that video reminds me of when I went on his stag do earlier this year and he had one too many jaegarbombs and cornered me in a Camden bar and basically shouted conspiracy theories about mainstream media down my ear and I just had to stand there and nod along, waiting for a chance to run for the last train home. Difference here is that my friend was drunk, but Brand is clearly panicking and deflecting.

Fielding and Walliams probably have more to lose than Brand - Brand has already dropped out of the mainstream and has his weird cult of Q-anon types and other conspiracy and anti-woke wankers he survives off, if anything the revelations will just help his clout with that lot as they'll just ignore reality and treat him like a martry.
Fielding and Walliams are still doing stuff that's a bit more mainstream.

Walliams is still doing his books, they're still really popular and likely to still be adapted unless more stuff comes out about him.
To be fair to him, whilst I'm not a fan (especially of his books) and have heard some very unflattering things about both his personality and his work ethic, I've never heard a rumour that he's a proper wrongun.

I had a friend in the very early 2000s who personally knew Brand, either she or one of her mates had a fling with him, and she told everyone at a party not long after that he was a proper wrong ‘un and to steer well clear of him. This stuff’s been brewing for decades.

I mean no one was particularly surprised by Saville either, but there’s a big difference between it being an open secret and having a full case laid out in front of the public eye. You’ve got to remember it was only a few years ago Katherine Ryan was bringing it up in her shows and interviews but was too cautious to actually name names - but apparently now there’s a strong enough case.
