yeah I used to be somewhat onboard with "paedophile hunters" but the more I see it, the more it's less about the actual support being done by people who are genuinely invested (EG - they may have a history of abuse or could have worked in a sector with victims) than it is about being seen to be a "good guy".
also comments from the police pointing out that they can totally fuck up and prejudice cases before they even get a chance to go to court make it seem all the more daft. if you spot something, make a note of it and fucking direct it to the police WITH the evidence that you've seen. they'll be a lot happier with that.
