100%. So angry at how callous and uncaring she is. Couldn't believe it. If I'm being generous, she might've reacted that way cos she knew what was coming, but we've heard her yelling at parents plenty of times in past. Ugh.

FHUTA (the daughter), and not in the fun way.
How much of a callous bitch do you have to be for your first reaction in that situation to be suing the hospital (with zero knowledge of what actually happened to dad in the end, at that! Not that that's the issue here...), instead of, I don't know, maybe trying to support your grieving mother who is currently losing her mind right next to you???

Oh man. That sounds truly awful. Sorry you had to go through that - when the dust settles, your neighbour will remember what you did for her. Hope she never speaks to her daughter again and changes her will to leave it all to a cat charity.

JuniorFE Not sure it's a great idea to use "FHUTA" in this context (or any in my opinion)- bear in mind what it actually stands for and means, especially when you add 'and not in the fun way' Also, we don't know anything about them and people deal with things in different ways

Deaths in families always shine a light on the darkness in families, from experience. But that’s a fucking black hole! $$$$$$

Very sad all around really. We've been meaning to get a fence in the garden for last 18 months, but both sets of neighbours on each side are really nice, so it hasn't hastened our need. Instead there is a waist high fence. We often have conversations with the neighbours. We'd exchange fruit and veg from our gardens with this elderly couple. And a couple of months ago the father gave me a big bamboo plant that I have in a pot on my patio. He was a friendly chap. 53 years they were married. Poor woman.

At least you did your best to help them out. Unlike the mentalist daughter.
Sounds like a mad scene to have to deal with!

Yep, it's the best you can do. My partner felt guilty that she couldn't find the ward quickly enough, that had we done so faster they might've had the chance to see him alive one last time. But I told her she did great, the best we could in the circumstances. The mother was very thankful to my partner between the tears.
Feel a bit weird with it today. Felt a bit like a dry run for when the inevitable happens with my folks, except hopefully I'll actually not be a dick bag. Hopefully. Bleh. Gunna get out the house so as not to stew.

If anything daughter was the one who dragged her feet. But doubt it would have made much difference. Would anyone really want to see a loved one having chest compressions or similar?
Sounds like you both did what good people do.
With the daughter - well… anger is a stage of grief and she went straight there.

I'll leave it up for posterity but in hindsight I did let my anger get the best of me a bit there. That said, from the context Tomo has provided it does seem like her little show about suing was more a continuation/culmination of bad behaviour rather than an emotional, grieving outburst (or at least a mix of the two)... I do hope otherwise though. (and apologies for the late reply but for some reason I hadn't noticed the notification about being tagged)

The neighbours have started burning incense to hide their cigarette smoke. TBH, I'd rather just the fags, the incense lingers for ages.

If you search for GIGIMZEN then Reddit has a few different letters as well. Might make sense of the full story, you just have part 58.

I was like “mate… double spacing.” Also, the only thing you should post through a neighbour’s letterbox is a polite note to say you’re having a soirée and are looking to have it wrapped up by eleven o’clock. And they are welcome to come so long as they know how to roll a 12-sided die and aren’t prudes about paladins.

Asked next door and they didn't get one so either we're being targeted as one of us identifies as somebody they could recruit ... or next door posted it.
