They deleted it, so obviously it didn't come across well then. Although I'm not sure why celebrating a massive corporation having a dig at a review site is good thing.

I've been watching some streams and it seems like a cross between Destiny x Diablo x Crackdown. I think I could be up for this but the only nagging doubt is that almost all the streams I flicked through had the player doing exactly the same thing: Protect X whilst defeating waves of enemies. Is that... it? They broadly speaking feel similar, so if you don't get on with the core shooting gameplay it does change up much. There's defend points, rescue hostages, return pickups from enemies, defend plants which charge up and afflict enemies, and a vehicle assault thing I really like. Most of these also come with modifiers like grenade kills only, critical hits only etc. In the open world there's also contracts to do, Riddler races, Riddler puzzles and Riddler trophies. One thing I've noticed with the loot side is there isn't much power creep on it so far. Different weapons have different strengths and weaknesses, but they sort of balance out. I'm about a third of the way through the story and still using the Black Mask weapons, and loot I'm getting now is all just trade offs.

It's all very well put together with real attention to detail and thought, its got Rocksteady quality and it's made me laugh out loud more than a couple of times.
The skill ceiling for all the traversal skills and shooting things seems to be quite high. Very fun game if you like a looter shooter. Meeting Batman for the first time is quality.

The moment to moment fighting and the traversal skills are so fucking fun. There's a real learning curve to each character, King Shark feels easiest to me at the moment so I'm sticking with him for now.

Shark King? Is that some sort of knock off like Robert Cop.

I did see some streamers playing via twitch yesterday, well for about a minute or two, there was so much colour and hud/screen furniture going off I couldn't concentrate on the actual gameplay!
Speaking of DC does anyone recommend playing Batman origins (backwards com on xboxX)I bought the "remastered" trilogy, having completed the brilliant AA, never giving AC or AK enough time. I thought it might be good to start with O, I do know it is not by rocksteady.

I'd say best to start with Asylum as it's the more stripped back game (and all the better for it imo) and it'll probably be harder to go back to it after getting used to the open worlds.
I wouldn't worry about playing Origins first from a story perspective. Origins is pretty much the map from City IIRC, so will feel a little too familiar if you play that and City in close succession.

I liked Origins, even if it kinda felt like a rehash. Boss battles were the highlight though, much better than what Asylum and City mustered.

City does have the best boss battle of the whole trilogy though.

Wasn't Deadshot an absolute load of shit in Oranges?
Mr. Freeze ftw in City. Loved the dialogue during that fight.

Deathstroke was the biggest disappointment and then in Knight they managed to out crap that with a Tank battle and just punch 30 times sequence.
Origins is a damn good game IMO. Freezes battle was very well done.

Ahh right, that was a good boss. The shittest was the Deathstroke one for Arkham Knight, you know a pretty cool assassin to fight against and it ends up being a batmobile tank fight.

I sacked off city (when it originally came out in 2011!) well before that fight, I wanted a "tighter" game like AA. as mentioned I do intend playing all 4 games at some point.

Comparing it to today's open world bloat, I'd say City is actually pretty tight. There's a lot of indoor sections, more than you'd think.

You can just ignore all the side stuff as well really if you want to. The main missions are still structured very well and will give you a great campaign. Same thing for Knight. I think you'd be fine going in release order for the Arkham games. Story wise, Origins has little bearing on the trilogy anyway

“Getting toward the end of the Suicide Squad campaign and man, this totally blows. What a colossal disappointment by (almost) every metric. My only hope is that this will be the last time we see a scenario like this - a talented, single player focused studio utterly wasted on the live service golden goose chase. Please let this mark the end of that era.”
Skill Up is not a fan.

That lines up with my feelings for the most part. I think I like it more than they did but they pick out similar strengths and weaknesses that I would. One minor quality of life thing I like is you can set your AI squad to auto-equip stuff, so if you have a main you can focus on their equipment and let your team deal with theirs. Other similar games I've played needed a lot more micromanaging that side of things. It's optional though, you can disable it.

He was reasonably positive in his preview but it looks like his concerns about the game outweighed the stuff he thought was interesting. People need to stop chasing that destiny money as the market already has it's leaders and you need to be exceptional to even dent it. Devs will never be able to produce enough content to keep players happy long term and even the best game in the genre can't do it.
Hopefully it gives WB a bit of a bloody nose so they can revealuate a bit. Their pricing in games like MK and then chasing the live service model are so detached from what most gamers want and I hope they learn that. Ironically their biggest success in recent times with a single player story driven game.

Just watched the Luke review, he is not happy and after watching 25 mins of his review I can see why. I was only mildly interested anyway, not for me.

IGN uploading the games end cutscene is pretty petty. Sure they haven't done that before? especially for a game that officially releases today.

I've put in about 9 hours and its an excellent looter game. If you liked The division, borderlands, destiny, warframe, diablo etc you're likely going to get on with it. I keep getting City of Heroes flashbacks playing it as well.
I feel bad for Rocksteady, its a really well put together game with all their hallmark polish. I really don't get why people have a hate boner for this which is viral to the point where people are literally just making shit up.

People have a hate boner for it because it's a looter game. What an absolute waste of one of the best producers of licensed single player games in recent history, if not ever.
It's a real shame because it sounds like the mechanics are solid enough but the game type is the core issue. Their three Arkham games are probably 3 of my favourite games of the last 15 years only to follow up with this? That I've got nothing more than mild curiosity about it probably speaks to others shared negative predisposition.
so I suspect that's where most of the "hate" is coming from; massive, massive disappointment and frustration at the huge waste of talent.
