the reviewer that failed at the cuphead tutorial (and failed at reading whats on screen) turns out he slagged off Mass effect on 360 and irrc because he played it ages and didn't notice you can upgrades your skills (sure the game reminds you leveled up and have skills points to spend)
Just looking up about the Doom thing, if the polygon thing, what I expect from them, their rockband 4 preview was ironic hipster dipshit levels
I mean, you're doing exactly the thing I was talking about. The guy you're calling "the reviewer who failed at the cuphead tutorial", who was playing in that footage was Dean Takahashi. The person who reviewed the game for Polygon was... Chris Plante. So not Dean Takahashi. So not "the reviewer who failed at the cuphead tutorial". The guy who captured that Doom footage was also Dean Takahashi. Guess who reviewed for Polygon? Arthur Gies. That's right, again, not the guy from the footage. I didn't say it was Dean about the doom footage (even said if was the Polygon thing) there was footage from Polygon and it was shit from (turns out the guy never played a FPS before according a quick search) So was not talking about Dean

I guess, they'd prefer gamers to fly straight to the endgame and its sweet micro-transactions /s

I'm with frog on this. It'll be relatively average game, perfectly fine but very unremarkable, and it's weird that some people act like that's A) the anti-christ and b) are apparently eager (even invested) for it to fail, which is a weird habit that happens here. I swear some of you don't even like games.

I'd guess it's more people think it's a waste of Rocksteady's talents and smacks of publisher interference.
If it's successful it just means more microtransactions, battle passes and the like in full price games going forward.

Fair, but that's really just the world we live in, and it honestly doesn't really have as significant an impact as people act. Like when horse armor came out in Oblivion and the hot takes were that it would be the end of gaming as we know it, no more single player games, never again shall the industry be pure and unsullied, and it really didn't do much and hardly anyone still gives a shit about cosmetics being in a game.

Honestly I think it's more the live service aspect that pissed people off. When your (full priced) game reveal has 4 or 5 different currencies on display and a paid battle pass, it just feels like you're taking the piss.
I see the backlash as more a pushback against this sort of lazy game design. If the game looked the same but without any of the live service stuff, I think the reaction would be quite different.
I played the alpha and found the core mechanics actually fun after you spend some time with them, but it is definitely bogged down by everything else

I think most people didn't think horse armour would be the end of the world, more that it'd be the thin end of the wedge for publishers and sometimes developers to try and take more and more of your time/money with superfluous tat.
Looking where we're at now it's hard to disagree with that. I just do the only thing I can and don't buy it (and whinge about it now and again).

I wasn't too bothered by the live service elements it just felt like the studio could do better as I know what they're capable of. I mean it's weird to have a character like Captain Boomerang in a game and his skillset isn't used in any way apart from using a boomerang to warp distances as part of his travelling around. It's a game that is very much at odds with itself and once the campaign is over I can't see many people sticking around after, sure people may pop their noses in to see when a new character drops but I don't see big numbers staying for the long haul. If it had been released say 2019/20 then I think it would be a totally different story.

It doesn't help that a lot of people (myself included) erroneously thought we were finally getting a good Superman game from the people who had made the best Batman games in a long time, if not ever.

There was rumours that the studio was working on superman and then TMNT game at one point (iirc) RS would of been a perfect fit for the TMNT Last ronin story (i know there was game annouced by another studio but its studio that did destory all humans remakes and embracer is the publisher also sure that studio was getting job cuts

To me, it looks like Marvel's Avengers 2.0 - neither good nor bad, awesome nor terrible, and destined to be forgotten in fairly short order.

As far as I know the Superman story is not true, they were doing an new IP before that was possibly multiplayer and that got canned and then I think Suicide Squad was passed onto RS from WB Montreal.

As we're talking about dodgy journalism, there's IGN with a headline about how the UK is putting a 37% discount on the game before its out. Except, it's a single seller on ebay

Not defending IGN's click bait but IGN does do its own bargains stuff on Twitter (it's saved me money in the past), where they obviously have referral links, this is reporting that.

I've saved a fuckton of money using TGC through eBay with the regular codes, as they work with pre-orders it makes it cheaper than buying from them direct plus I can use and collect Nectar points.

Dude makes it sound like TGC are some random bloke with an ebay account. I believe he is an DC affiliated influencer who has been leaking a lot of the plot about the game and is extremely defenisve of any criticism about it, so make of it what you will.

Actually, has anyone paid for the 100 quid version of this? I'll rephrase that, will anyone here admit to that?
Also WB have sent review code to EG today, so yeah they intentionally refused to give IGN review code.

It's in that same vein as Forspoken. It's a clear 6 or 7/10 game but does not deserve to be lumped in amongst the "worst games of the year"

Have they offered everyone a +4 Baseball Bat of Flaming Injustice to make up for basically stealing a tenner off everyone who pre-ordered yet?

It's somewhat relative though; to be fair. It's rare we get absolute stinkers like Gollum these days among the "big" releases. Among the AAA cohort of games, being just "fine" probably does make you one of the worst AAAs of the year.
Most of the absolute shiters we get these days are the low effort shovelware which it's not exactly an achievement or something you should be proud of being better than.

I really don't think this is going to be the steaming dumpster fire that we've been led to believe. Sure, we're not getting Arkham but then we've still got Arkham. They still play great today.
Interested to see how it plays for myself when it hits ยฃ20 by Easter.

I'm quite partial to a bit of co-op with mates, managed to extract some enjoyment from Avengers and even the likes of Redfall in that regard, reckon I could probably do the same with this, although not at full price.
That being said, you can grab this for Xbox off Gamivo for ยฃ25...

I think this is just the one to shit on this year. People made their mind up about it from the first reveal.
I'm not saying it made a stellar first impression, but the dislike for it seems completely disproportionate to how bad it actually is, and every new thing is just an extra thing to pile on.
