11 electrics, a bass and a classical
EDIT: and I’m now finished I think, certainly until/unless we move into a bigger house. I actually reached the stage where I had to be grownup and think about space. I also pretty much got at least one example of every guitar type I wanted. I’m ditching the classical imminently.
Although I would still like a Casino And a V And a black Gibson Les Paul Custom And a Kork Hammett ouija

Haha OK that makes me feel better, I'm on 5, 1 acoustic four electrics.
Annoyingly I sold my ibanez rg HR ginger model about 6 years ago. They're now worth quite a bit.
Morale of the story....don't sell them

I’d have 15 if I never sold them. Can’t bring myself to sell any of these I think. At least two of them were from the lockdown times and were like a proper positive boost memory from those times.
Edit - 16.

I hate selling stuff, everything about the process puts me off so I never sell anything apart from cars. Plus I either buy new custom shop gear or put together partscasters so I’d never get my money back if I did anyway

Completly agree re selling stuff. I've sold a few things that I bitterly regret.
Sold a Marshall half stack for buttons compared to what they're worth now. TSL-100. Only thing in my defence is it's a monster and I was no longer gigging.
Have a little fender mustang and tempted by the boss katana. Purists will scoff but the sound you can get from these amps is incredible. Especially if like me forever confined to a bedroom.
If I started a band again I would maybe reconsider.

I went with a Yamaha THR30 for those low volume situations, but generally just whack on the Waza Airs for convenience

Sorry mate 😅 they are good though, I had a Mustang micro that I didn’t really click with so was skeptical of the format, but took a punt when Amazon had them on sale and I love them. Basically a katana modeller with some decent headphones, much easier to dial in a good sound with my phone than the teeny buttons on the micro

The NUX Mighty Plug Pro is a good alternative - needs wired headphones like the Mustang Micro but has a comprehensive phone app like the Waza Air. And under £100. (The newer Pro mind, not the older Mighty Plug.)

I don't feel quite so bad with my instrument hoarding after reading other posts here! Agreed on regretting selling stuff - sold an Ibanez Jet King 2 a few years back and now miss that a lot. My current crop of main bits and pieces is: 1 12-string Danelectro, 1 Danelectro U2, 1 Danelectro Hodad, 1 Fender Telecaster, 1 Peavey T-40 bass, 1 Aria 12-string acoustic, 1 Harley Benton 3/4 size acoustic, 1 Harley Benton bass ukelele, 1 Harley Benton 5-string banjo, 1 Donner electric piano, 1 TC Helicon amp, Yamaha DD-65 portable drums with a digital kick pad. Then I have a bunch of smaller percussion instruments, a cajon, an EWI (electronic wind instrument) and some other stuff. Just need to teach myself to play them all now - ha ha!
The Harley Benton kit I've ordered has been surprisingly good - the 3/4 guitar gets regular praise at open mic nights for its tone - only cost just over £100!
edit: forgot a guitar - 1972 Japanese-built Epiphone Texan, but the bridge has split, so it needs to go to a luthier at some point... lovely tone and such a nice guitar to play - same model as Macca wrote Blackbird on

I’ve just finished yet another guitar- bought a wrecked les paul junior style thing because I had some nice soapbars I wanted to put in something. Obviously selling the pickups wouldn’t have been easier. Trimmed it and customised the body shape a bit, ditched the dual bridge set-up for a more authentic single setup, tweaked controls positions, finished in an approximation of TV yellow and, actually, despite being of no particular brand the neck is godly, my fave neck profile ever. Fucking weeks of work. And I probably could have got 50, maybe even 60 quid for the pickups and retired, ah well.
Lower end guitars have got unrecognisably better from the crap that was sent out a couple fo decades ago.

Basically a katana modeller with some decent headphones, much easier to dial in a good sound with my phone than the teeny buttons on the micro My issues with the things - 1. Two components to charge separately, phones and dongle. If it had a single docking station or something it’d be great. 2. Really the app is terrible. Compared to a modern Fender Mustang interface it’s as intuitive as trying to decipher ancient Sumerian. The trick really is to find a couple of settings you are happy with and hard save them to the four headphone slots and leave it at that. 3. The gyro tech is worthless and bugged, and probably adds loads of expense to them. They are a good tool for learning/practising songs if you play in a covers band - although I have on occasion found them too bassy when streaming to the extent it cuts out the guitar part I’m trying to learn!

I switched the gyro off straight away, pointless. I don’t mind the app too much, but I don’t use too many features on amps anyway, just volume and gain where I like then use the guitar controls

Got my strat and having great fun with it. Needs a bit of tlc on the wiring front but otherwise all good.
Now gonna divide the crowd here. I have a lot of black guitars and thinking of respraying it. Not sure if anyone here done anything similar.
My plan would be to take all the poly/black finish off. With care and a heat gun it seems to crack off.
The wood will be exposed, light sand and then spray it white with nitro.
I would do a very very subtle relic job with the white exposing some of the wood and then finish with a satin nitro.
Any thoughts? Other than "leave it the fuck alone" hahaha

I did the blue strat above from unfinished parts, spray and relic etc. Sanding down and preperation is the worst part, especially when you have to do it for the 3rd time after fucking it up

That's the kind of look I'm going for. Did you sand the poly finish off compeltly? That must have been a slog lol

Nah, I started with a GuitarBuild body and an Allparts licenced neck. I did sonic blue to begin with but didn’t like the shade too much so sanded back and sprayed daphne. Then I messed up with the tinted nitro clearcoat and messed it up even more trying to fix it, so sanded back again. Manchester Guitar Tech nitro rattle cans work really well though, relicing was easy - made some dings and scuffs then sprayed an upside down air can to freeze it. Aged the nickel with ferric chloride, aged the plastics etc with dyes and whatnot

I gather poly comes off pretty cleanly with a scraper and some heat though

Love laying the chords for a songs solo on the fly and the soloing over the top. Also good for some batshit ambient shenanigans

Chords, then trying to learn what goes on top. I've always just played rhythm so it's an experience. My playing has improved a bit, too, now that I can hear it back. Ambient, you say? Hmmm. Hadn't thought of that. Suddenly seeing the appeal of a multi effects pedal, too (like an ME-90) to do on the fly. I can see that being useful. 😁

Very good for the price point. You can pay stupid money. But for messing around at home it's great.

Modern finish can be an absolute bitch to get off, depending on which plastick-y finish it is. With the Junior I did recently, not much would touch it, paint stripper etc. Ended up having to scratch millimetre by millimetre off with as much heat as my fingers could bear. As Elstoof said- it’s the prep. Everything is in the prep. Sand, fill, sand, fill, sand, fill, sand, sand, sand. It’s really hard to cover imperfections with paint., though you can get quite far with multiple layers of primer sanded back so that it’s acting like a very fine final filler. And you have much more work to do if you want any sort of transparent coat because that base wood level needs to be at a better standard as less covering layers will be going on.
Nitro is lovely to work with though when finalising, sanding and polishing, best top coat if you need repairs too.

I just finished a pedal actually- addicted to making them more than I am playing them to be honest. I should probably lock my soldering iron away until I can find a diminished seventh or some shit at will. Nice synthy low-fi stuff with a lovely soupy lower octave sound 🤘

I need to go an have a play, because although the Katana is very versatile, it's difficult to adjust sound settings on the fly accurately with fingers whilst you're playing, eh?

That’s really quite beautiful. And of course Teles are the best guitars too. You should be proud.
