I guess the one hope is that England have been so shit that something might now change. Although as is usual with England cricket, it's the hope...
Anyway, fair play to Australia, you can only beat what's in front of you and they did that. Could have probably given us three batting innings each match and still won.

Yeah the English batters (aside from Root maybe) are shit. But you don't get a result like that without quality bowling from the opposition too.

I turned off after Stokes went but even I was surprised to see how pitiful it was when I woke up. Needs a root and branch reform of the game imo, with a focus on how counties cam best support Test Match Cricket.

Sack everyone at the ECB and start again. Destroy the Hundred to boot. Give cricket fans their test cricket back. But I think the problems run too deep. When the top 3 took away funding from the smaller nations around the time of the KP saga they began the rot. But the utter contempt for the fans since then has been huge. Pepper us with hundreds of contextless T20's to cream money from the "casuals."

Test match batting collapses seem more common in all teams recently.
I've never been 100% convinced in specialist Test players. If you have batsmen and bowlers in form bring them into the team.
Cricket is unique in that it's a team sport that relies on individual performance. It's open to constantly changing structures and rosters.
