It’s optional. Even the one Gwent match I mentioned in the castle was optional. I think there’s a tutorial match in the White Orchard tavern, and that’s it.

Gwent should never be optional. Gwent is life. That is all.

Only reason to play Gwent is if you like it, or are a plat trophy hunter.

So many miserable people here. Miserable. They were probably forced to play Gwent or something.

For any Gwent fans, I'd recommend Condottiere, the game Gwent is clearly based on. Many of the cards and rules are very similar, although you're only assembling a single row of cards, so it's a little simpler, but it's still a game with depth and tactics. I've had some great times playing with friends down the pub. It's only a small box and board, so very portable.

Just tried again, loaded PS4 version, made sure I was logged into GOG. Load game, save game. walk around for a minute, in case it needed time to upload to the cloud. Close game; load up PS5 version. All good now! Phew. 😅 If it hadn’t worked this time, I’d have given up.

This is one of those instances where I'm actually convincing myself that the RT is worth it.
I'm... not sure it is. I can't in all honesty see enough of a difference to keep it on when performance plays so much better.

It started up in Performance Mode for me, and I’ve just left it there. It doesn’t look massively improved from the PS4 Pro version, but it just feels so good at 60fps.
From what I’ve seen on YouTube, it appears that the most noticeable difference between RT mode and Performance is in water reflections.
To be honest, it’s been a couple of years since the PS5 has launched now, and only Insomniac’s titles have really made RT a noticeable improvement enough to warrant choosing Quality over Performance. I’m not really sure RT isn’t overrated.

I've definitely noticed the RT effect indoors and just the overall lighting is better, feels less flatter. Also I've had no issues with RT bugs. How odd.

Pff tell me PS5 RT is reported broken or something because I can barely, barely tell a difference so far. No way it’s worth 30fps

Really is a great game. Though I did have the same hour or so of getting used to it that I had the first time

Had a quick go last night and looks good enough in performance mode on PS5. Doesnt seen to let the FPS go over 60 and run with VRR like most other new titles.
Also, is the combat supposed to fell like you are just telling someone onscreen to do something and not actually doing it. After GOW and the like it feels pretty lightweight.

I bought the goty edition on Xbox for £2.60 (US key) just done the first proper quest in RT mode. It doesn't seem that bad to me, but will switch to performance mode later for that 60fps goodness.

RT mode is totally unplayable for me on Xbox.
Not sure if I've just got used to 60 or if it's actually broken.
It does look better but not really noticeable unless they're side by side...

Tell you what though. It’s nice to be back. I’m just going to do a few random contracts to get used to it again then I’m going to start the first dlc.

I have always felt that the fighting was a bit off and floaty. It is almost like playing a MMO where your inputs take time for the game to respond.

Had a quick go last night and the new camera angle helps with the combat quite a bit. It's still shit though. And I think RT looks quite a bit better, especially when you're near any water. Feels awful to play though.

I use the new camera for everything except combat, you can see things coming up behind you better.

Started Hearts of Stone DLC last night as I never played that one and I'm playing it in RT and it looks quite stunning at times. Combat is still not great so I'm just playing it on the lowest difficulty to 'get through it' as it were.

This has probably already been asked, but how on earth do you download the goty ps5 version? It only gave me the PS4 option (which I'm currently downloading in the hope I get a patch/upgrade option)

It did actually appear in the store as a separate download when I looked.

I probably will keep it on RT as I was obsessively switching back and forth last night in the half hour I had and I do like the extra depth that the RT gives. Everything just looks richer, with structures, NPCs and objects having more of a "place" in the world.
Kept getting owned by standard baddies so definitely need to brush up on the combat but I think I'll like the quick sign casting when I get my head around it. As usual I'll just keep spamming quen and rolling about like a dick. I must have been getting on alright as it looks like I did the game on the second hardest difficulty.

Thanks. Stopped that download.
Figured it out, bit of a faff, if you search for Witcher 3, goto page, then select version from the ..., Select goty, it will take you to a new goty version page. Then 'rebuy' the game again (to takes you to the payment of page, but should cost £0.00). Buy the game then takes you to a download page with both PS4/PS5 versions. What a palaver!
Downloading now 🙂

Ah good, glad you found it.
Yes all this dicking about can fuck off. Not sure why's it's so damn difficult.

I'd get absolutely owned every time. Had to save scum my way through each one and hope I got lucky. No idea what I was doing wrong.

FWIW on my PS5 there was just one listing for it and clicking on it asked me which version I wanted. Not GOTY though.

I should really complete this game and play the DLC at some point, but sounds like the patch on PC has made the game a right hog.

They might have made it prettier, but it's still the same old game... Geralt can't decide whether to ride this odd two headed monster or kill it.
