2 is very inconsistent, 3 seems pretty smooth and the RT appears much more noticeably, it's quite nice especially reflections in rougher materials.

I did like how quick and easy it was to transfer the save files from the last gen versions, since I didn't have any of them installed anymore. And loading is pretty nonexistant now.

So I've sort of installed all the Resident Evils I can on my PS5 and I'm pissing about in them all, hopping from one to the other.
I'm mainly playing RE:0 as I've never actually played it much beyond when you first arrive at the training facility. I'm quite enjoying it although the inventory management is a massive pain in the arse. Just got to the lab so probably beyond halfway I reckon. The music is fucking brilliant mind you.
Dipped into the start of RE:7 now it's got the PS5 upgrade and I'm reminded how mental the whole opening section is. From arriving at the house, to then playing through the DVD part, to the whole Mia bit, then the Baker's dinner table scene right up to the garage fight. It's fucking nuts.
Fired up RE:6 to do a bit more of Jake's campaign and, well, ha ha ha ha. Fucking hell.

Oh yeah, I recently did a playthrough of Resi 7 it's absolutely mental in the best possible way, it still creeps me out when Jack is following you and was definitely what the series needed, may, what Capcom needed, and has led to a renaissance period for them.
Resi 6 though. I just can't do it. It's well made it really is. It's just a garbage fire in execution.

Not sure what they thought taking the item boxes out would bring to the game. They probably just didn't want you to be able to easily transfer items between characters but they could have just had seperate ones for each. I'm a pack rat so endsed up with whole rooms full of stuff (I'd never use) and would have sessions of just relocating it all to a new area after making enough progress. I think the map loops around eventually so I could have just left it where it was in the end though

Hah 6 was so forgettable I had to watch a video to remember if I'd actually played it.

I'll maintain the start of Leon's Campaign isn't too bad but oh boy. Oooooooh boy. Downhill from there.
It's funny as RE:4 is widely lauded as being the best on the franchise but it bloody started them on this route. The linear progression, the crates full of skill points, enemies dropping ammo etc. No real excuse for 6 being as fucking nuts as it is though. Even the UI is an absolute ballache. I swear I still don't fully understand it.
It really is unbelieveable that they went from 6 to 7 though. 7 is fucking immense. Talk about a redemption.

You'd probably get as many people saying Remake is the best in the series
I thought 6 was quite entertaining at the time. Might have been when I picked up a PS4 and was one of the first games I played though. Went through a few times. Certainly not short of set pieces and some pretty unintentionally funny parts. I don't think unmemorable is something I'd say about it

I can't really blame them for following the money that 4 and 5 gave them, they obviously had metrics to see what people were doing in game. I can only imagine that thought they were giving people more of what they wanted. Obviously it wasn't received how they thought it would be.

I'm still going to go through 6 though. The plan is to finish RE:0 first and then continue 6. I did Leon's campaign last year so I'm just whacking it down to easy and mowing through the rest. I seem to recall that I bought it on release to play with my brother all those years back. We'd really enjoyed going through RE5 together (I do like 5), and were looking forward to 6. We managed Leon's and ended up giving up a short while in to Chris' campaign - on account of the fact the game wanted us to kill 5 million wankers, yet only gave us enough ammo to injure 1 of them.

Funny thing about that, there's weapon infinite ammo unlocks, so I left that campaign until last thinking it'd be much more fun that way. But it's not actually infinite ammo, it just changes all ammo pick ups to that ammo type and it's still not enough

I would mind it less going down the full on balls to the wall action route if it gave you the means to kill all the cunts. Instead it seems to want you to roundhouse everyone whilst taking rockets to the tits.

I don't think unmemorable is something I'd say about it I’m a Remake person. I even think the remaster they did of it holds up now. Apart from the menus all looking a million years old. I feel like I need to go back to 6 as I remember basically none of it or 5. I remember being less happy with 5 though.

I just started RE4 for the umpteenth time recently, about 5-6 hours in.
I don’t just think it’s just the best of the series, it might be the best game of all time.

I like RE4 up until the third main area. Not a great fan of that. Love the village and castle though.

I've tried playing RE4 again a couple of times in recent years. It just feels so bloody clunky I end up giving up on it by the time I get to the chainsaw guy.
With rose tinted glasses on its one of my top ten games of all time. In reality it's really not.

I think thats one if those cases where being the first of something means that later less good games end up having quality of life improvements that mean they have elements that age better.
Feel like maybe the RE4 remake will do what the REmake did where it basically gives you the game you remember rather than the game that it was

It's definitely a bit clunky but I play through it every couple of years and it still holds up fantastically well imo. It's just set piece after set piece. Absolutely thrilling. Still waiting for the series to hit the same heights as 4 and REmake. Still.

RE2make is right up there for me even with its story content trimmed down from the original

2 and 3 remakes for me all day long. Though I do still love the original remake too, played it again recently on Switch.
I played through 4 when it first came out. And despite enjoying the village, it dragged on too long and and was too disjointed.
Plus Ashley was a dead ringer for an ex from school, so that put me right off

Omg, your ex was kidnapped by a cult?! Impregnated with a parasite too. Although we don't talk about user Zuluhero like that here.

I love RE4, it’s probably my #1 game of all time
Did all the difficult stuff again recently on PS4/5 to get the Handcannon and the other overpowered stuff
I fucking love it

Me too
If it’s the exact same game with better visuals that will be enough for me
Maybe some completion bonus weapons and modes too at a push

Re4 done to the standard and style of the 2 remake I'm more than happy. Even 3 was a dream to play.

3 really grew on me, after initially hating it due to all the cuts and changes. But its really tight.
I'm still going to play Re4 remake, despite my initial misgivings, it's been long enough for me to have forgotten about much of it (including the parasite 😛) and maybe it will be more streamlined too.
I'm sure it will be visually great too.

Indeed. Big fan of the 2 and 3 remakes. If 4 is like that... Well. Gosh.
I think with Re:0 and Remake holding up so well, 7 and 8 being so good, and the phenomenal 2, 3 and (hopefully) 4, then there will be quite the array of fantastic Resident Evil to dip in and out of.
