This is absolutely brilliant, took me a few nights to see the greatness but starting to get to grips with it all now. Played Foy last night, we lost and I died 10x my kills (at least) but none of that matters when, as above, it's like playing Band of Brothers. I really hope it gets very long term support, even new locations and forces, I'd be happy playing this for years.

Yeah, steep, steep learning curve but so worth it. Lots of nice touches to differentiate it from standard war shooters where everyone’s obsessed with KDR as a metric of success. Hit rate for good squads is only about 50/50 but brilliant when everyone’s communicating. Six of us held one point for ages yesterday because (thankfully) the other five with me knew what they were doing and had everyone spawning as the right class etc. That said, had a frustrating directionless match where “SoggyBiscuits” was in overall command, micless and just bizarrely running around the edges of the map the whole game 🙄. Some people are fucking weird.
Do know they’re adding a British class and accompanying maps in the future 👍

This continues to be absolutely completely brilliant.
The best shooter setting, realistic approach, great command system (when used), looks glorious, and more atmospheric and immersive than any Battlefield I've ever played. Or CoD or MoH or Wolfie or any other WW2 game for that matter. It's even rock solid, not a single crash for me yet.
I fervently hope we get Pacific, eastern front, north Africa, Walmington-On-Sea. Will happily pay full price for each.

I know this is designed for MP but is there a SP campaign mode to get used to the controls etc?

Nope no SP, just the white heat of multiplayer. After a truck ride usually.
Controls are simple though, it's more working out where and when to spawn, follow orders, work out the map, avoid killing your own squad etc.
One of the best things is, even prone in a hedgerow, with nothing to do but hunker down until the bullets flying over your head thin out a bit, you are contributing. Kill/death ratios are meaningless, and all the usual FPS bullshit. It's just winning the battle that matters.

It's a great game, but the constant niggling bugs do sour the experience somewhat at leas ton Xbox. Voice comms can fail to work or will work, but then keep cutting out until one restarts them. Plus the 1/2 second or so screenfreeze that happens regularly can cost one lives and cool moments.
But when it works, as Lazyitis has said, it's *really* good. Fantastic atmosphere and room for proper flanking and suppression - discussion too.
Yesterday I was in a three-man armour squad. Our Tiger was doing so well we actually ran out of ammunition and had to go back to homebase to repair and re-arm. All squads were commmunicating, armour was working in tandem and the commander was putting in recon planes and bombing runs.
However, as we were making our way back to the front line my voice comms cut out and I couldn't hear anyone speaking. At that point, as I was trying to sort the it out, we got a rocket up the arse and the tank was disabled.

Had some good games last night with EGers. I didn't know they were EGers until I asked if they'd heard of the forum. Then it turns out someone I've been playing with for years is also from EG. I suspect my memory is shot.
THere are still bugs, but when it works - and you have a full squad - it's fantastic. Our team basically held an entire game together, defending home base to give other players time to push up, then going on a long flank taking out enemy spawns and capping a point from behind.

Not my clip, but I wanted to share it anyway. It's a great example of the atmosphere.

Classic HLL. "Sedgwick died at the beginning of the Battle of Spotsylvania Court House, on May 9, 1864. His corps was probing skirmish lines ahead of the left flank of Confederate defenses and he was directing artillery placements. Confederate sharpshooters were about 1,000 yards (900 m) away, and their shots caused members of his staff and artillerymen to duck for cover. Sedgwick strode around in the open and was quoted as saying, "What? Men dodging this way for single bullets? What will you do when they open fire along the whole line?" Although ashamed, his men continued to flinch and he said, "Why are you dodging like this? They couldn't hit an elephant at this distance."[6] Reports that he never finished the sentence are apocryphal, although the line was among his last words.[7]" en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Sedgwick#Death

I think this typifies the Hell Let Loose experience. Germans were charging a road ahead of us, I ended up killing a friendly player, saw a teammate's legs bounce away from his body and heard Tri despair at a bombing run. gamerdvr.com/gamer/idg4f/video/157907610
