Haha, you don't have to drink the whole bottle on your own though, Dougs. You don't? You don't *have* to, but it's fun so why not?

ecosse I felt sure you'd know the grue, thought it was a Scottish thing as my father-in-law uses it a lot. It's that slightly nauseous feeling you get when you think about eating/drinking a certain thing. For me, it's tea with a big hangover. I can only have one and then I'm done.

Probably some af Guinness. Running tomorrow morning, so I'll save the good stuff for Saturday night.
Maybe even a cheeky pre-dinner negroni too, it's the weekend after all!

The wine was bloody lovely, smooth but layered and complex. Happy days.

Ought to be for 35 quid. My palate isn't refined enough for that level.

I bet it had one of those fancy wooden things that you need to use a knitting needle to poke into the bottle.

I was trying to open a bottle of Rioja at a friends house, was attending for some boardgames.
The cork was tight, so as I pulled the corkscrew up, the bottle slammed down onto the kitchen counter.
Bottle broke at the bottom. Wine everywhere.
Smelled like good wine too.
Had to run to co-op and get and bottle to replace it.
The wine explosion also totally fucked my white t-shirt.
It's a disaster.
Fun games night though.

Elysian Space Dust IPA while I watch some Babylon 5.
Because I'm a dweeb that likes themes.

Perlenbacher, and some double-hopped APA from Lidl. I'm swerving.

Wild Turkey 101, which is going down quite well indeed... Just ordered some bitters to try making an old fashioned next weekend, and couldn't resist makers mark at £20 so nabbed some of that too.
I probably shouldn't try Scotch after years of thinking I hated whisky, as it'll be a slippery slope.

Couldn't get on with Perlenbacher, which is a shame as it's cheap as fuck. Did enjoy a session IPA from Lidl the other day though. It's no Neck Oil buy was reasonably balanced. Will buy again.
Today I have drunk quite a lot of Peroni, with some Camden Hells and Neck Oil throw in for good measure. I have eaten, have 2l of water to drink and will be in bed very shortly.

MACK by Mackmyra. Swedish whisky. I think I like it, quite smooth but there's a strangely sweet apple, maybe even banana taste upfront.
As somebody who likes the peaty whisky that tastes and feels like a glob full of peat, it's different but not bad. just different.
Could do with a mouthful of peat though. Without the heavy taste and mouthfeel of peat it's actually too quaffable.
(I mentioned peat a lot. I need to get more Octomore in my life.
I don't think there's a dedicated single malt thread in this place. The old place had one.
Now I'm perturbed that the "old place" is several months ago. I now consider months and years in the same way I considered weeks.)

I haven't got on with any of the beers I've bought from Lidl. I get seduced by the packaging but the beer is always lacking something. It's either a bit chemical-y or has that weird "empty" taste, almost like it's non-alcoholic but not. I suppose I just need to try more until I find a good one, eh?

Ought to be for 35 quid. My palate isn't refined enough for that level. I "only" paid about 22 quid, it's CHF34 and I got it at 20% off, considering how strong the Franc is compared to the pound, it's not as expensive as you'd think. probably the equivalent of a 15-18 quid bottle I'm guessing.

Morrissons own brand caribbean spiced rum. It was a substitution.
The caribbean spice plantation clearly doubles up as a fly-tipping site for leaky batteries.

Ergh, the own brands taste so artificial. What rum did you initially want?

Starting my LA story with a negroni, I’ll hopefully get pissed up and go looking for the Viper Rooms or something

I went to the Viper Rooms when I was there a loooong time ago. It was suitably dark and dingy. Didn't see widespread drug use, sure it was there though.

5 (i think) beers tonight out & about.
I think this is the most i have drunk in an evening since really giving it laldy in the first lockdown. Then deciding that was *not* the best way to go.
Possibly going to regret that in a few hours time...
