suicida Good to hear! The three characters me and JuniorFE played have finished the game and stood still after that, so we'll be right at home...

This bit at the end of that interview got me moist: Has there ever been a successful designer as modest as Miyazaki? Culture, translation etc plays a part, I know. But he just comes across as the most humble and unassuming of guys given his astonishing successes.

Miyamoto always seemed incredibly humble considering his impact and output.

Yeah they just want to make the best games they can. And they smash it Every. Single. Time.
I have a lot of time for the whackyness* of Kojima and Yoko Taro though
*depictions of ladies in their work excluded.

Turned this back on and was stood outside a spooky manor - wandered into the courtyard and got murdered by some giant spider hands. Absolutely no memory of what's going on or what to do!

It's going to be like Robin Williams trying to be Peter Pan in Hook.

Wander around the area and it will come back to you eventually (or you will reach a boss/mini boss and progress through the story).
There's always the alternative of watching a playthrough on YT up to that point, but what's the fun in that?!?

I've seen a great tip online yesterday, you can actually pause the game after all. From the equipment menu (or any other submenu) go to "help" -> "menu explanation" and boom gameplay is paused.

I started this again. Going to take it slowly till June. I had mixed feelings on the game first time round, (didn’t finish it, got stuck at Maliketh) but I couldn’t help but feel a bit giddy starting it up again. Just something really satisfying about the souls formula.

Well, I never finished this game. Couldn’t remember exactly where I’d abandoned it, but with the DLC approaching I figured I’d give it another go, so I just reinstalled.
I’m right outside the Godskin Duo boss door. Fuck.
(To be fair, I just got really close to killing fattie on my second attempt, using the special attack of the pizza wheel that spins. Will keep trying…)

Just something really satisfying about the souls formula. For all its bleakness, it plays like a comfortable pair of slippers. All the qol they have in ER compared to other souls games and the fact it is open world, makes it the most accessible game of them all imo. The length is a problem for some but it's far quicker the second play through.

You can even pick the build Thanks, but I’m on Xbox I threw myself at the duo for nearly an hour yesterday, didn’t manage to beat them but another hour and I reckon I’ll do it. Or I’ll go off somewhere else for a bit to level up. I accessed the Consecrated Snowfield but never got through it so maybe there’s a different thing I can bang my head against there.

This is making me wonder where my character is now. I think I was going for a boss in llendell, if I've even spelt that correctly.
Generally no idea though. I might be at that bird you can shoot with an arrow for cheap souls in wherever that place is too.
Definitely done some bosses and remember killing the snow mountain giant bloke. After that though, basically fuck knows.
What's that manor where you get assassins jobs too? I might have done that or some of it.
What's the game called again?

Farum Azula was a hard difficulty jump. Forced me to seek out better talismans, increase my vigour and hunt out upgrade materials for weapons and ashes. I die a little more slowly now.
I read some Reddit thread about From having a Sekiro-type levelling system. I fear change.

Also cribbed from PC Gamer, but apparently the developers of an Italian souls-like called Enotria were a bit perturbed when they discovered they were launching on the dame day as Shadow of the Erd Tree.
Cue a substantial delay.

Tried summoning the shield guys, tried cheesing with Rotten Breath… to no avail. Ended up brute forcing them with the trusty Heavy Stars that have seen me through pretty much the whole game.

I’m realising there’s quite a bit of this game I’ve just… missed, and not done. Here’s how it went:
- I’m finally getting near the end and some of these bosses are tough , maybe it will help if I upgrade my Mimic Tear more than +4 - I need a Ghost Glovewort 5 and I can’t buy one from the finger maidens? Where do I get the bell bearing for that? - It’s in Nokstella Eternal City? Guess I’ll hop on over there - (checks map) …or not
So that’s apparently a whole area I just skipped. I’ve also missed loads of the summonable NPC ashes (Black Knife Tiche who’s really good for a late game dragon boss apparently? No idea) and talismans and weapons and who knows what else.
Currently torn between powering to the end, or going back and mopping up so I’ve still got a pre NG+ save ready for the DLC.

From what I've read your character being NG+ has no real bearing on the game's difficulty.

From what I've read your character being NG+ has no real bearing on the game's difficulty. Better safe than sorry innit If nothing else staying in NG will make it easier to access the DLC if the access point is lategame as it typically is (and if it is actually Miquella's cocoon in Mohg's boss arena as they've implied...) hedben without going into too much detail if you haven't been to Nokstella at all you've definitely missed quite a bit... Including a decently big part of a certain questline

That’s the other thing I haven’t really been paying attention to - the character quests. I got to a place in Farum Azula where you have an epic final fight with Alexander the Magic Pot guy, except he wasn’t there because of course he wasn’t, I hadn’t spoken to him the previous x times I was meant to. Always figured I’d bumble through, and save the 100% run for a second playthrough that hasn’t happened (yet?)
Anyway yes I’m going to go back and discover this Nokstrella place, I’m back in the Elden Ring zone after a yearlong hiatus.

- I’m finally getting near the end and some of these bosses are tough , maybe it will help if I upgrade my Mimic Tear more than +4 It will. In case you're unaware, most of the footage you see of her wrecking bosses (and people commenting how absurd she is) is from earlier versions of the game, she's been nerfed in the meantime. Mimic Tear is usually the go to solution, although there are some interesting exceptions, notably in the Godskin Duo fight: they're vulnerable to sleep, so it's a great idea to bring Dolores the Sleeping Arrow Puppet*. Haven't tried it myself, but apparently she trivialises that fight. *I originally wrote Latenna the Albinauric, sorry that was a mistake. Dolores is the correct one.
