Canva now has chapGPT powered AI image editing, and my teen along with loads of youngsters uses Canva a lot to make youtube videos. So now she can basically make anything she can imagine and type into a 'reality' on youtube, and she's growing up with that being normal, whereas a few years ago it'd have sounded like science fiction. But in a couple of years, when basically all youtube videos are AI generated by teens, how the hell is anyone going to know what reality is anymore? I can imagine AI will be used to identify AI generated content as quickly as it is created. Once it gets beyond the concept that it has to have an answer for everything. Even if it flat out lies.

On an entirely different note, and this isn’t a random musing, but I’m in Glasgow for 2 nights. Does anyone have any recommendations?

The transport museum is pretty interesting and it sells Irn Bru in vending machines all throughout. I'm easily pleased as you can imagine.

Broadly: Kelvingrove Art Galler and Museum, The Riverside (Transport) Museum, get a curry, have a whisky in The Ben Nevis pub, beers in Ashton Lane (these are all west end locations) Gallery of Modern Art, get a pizza in Paesano on Miller Street, go to the Apple shop and take a photo of your beautiful face on all the iPhones, buy me something from the Lego shop in the Buchanan Galleries shopping centre (these are all city centre locations) Visit Holmwood House, the Tramway Theatre, The Burrell Collection and Pollok Park including Pollok House (these are all south-side locations) Do you want to travel outside of the city? If so how much time would you allocate?

Cheers for all the responses! Especially leave! Haha
Annoyingly I’m only have 1 full day here, so I don’t feel I can explore too far. Kenilgrove Gallery was one I had considered, so seeing that come up here twice makes me feel good about that one! And yea, I’m 100% having a curry tomorrow.
Had a little wonder this evening and the city itself is stunning (coming from somebody who has spent the last decade living in Bristol). The nightlife crowd seem a bit rough, but otherwise good times so far!
I’ll check out the Ben Nevis pub, too! Cheers!

So if you look at members and sort by 'online today' there's four and a half-ish pages of results, so around 230 'active' people.
But as with everywhere else the majority are passive/silent.
I was genuinely shocked to see that there was still so many active users given whenever any reasonably active poster leaves it's very obvious.

Germany legalising weed on 01/04/2024 seems like a missed opportunity.

Is it just me, or is everything instantly better as soon as it's light and sunny in the evening again?

Dave (and anyone else) - I am about to start a new job and I will be staying in Bristol (near the centre) Tuesday and Wednesday nights each week for the foreseeable future (year or two). Can you recommend me where to go to eat / drink? I enjoy craft beers, if that helps.

I havent been since the before Covid times, so who knows what ended up closing down, but Good Chemistry & the Left Handed Giant were good, both pretty central I think. There was one on a barge as well but the name escapes me. I'll leave it to Dave!

If you’re in Bristol then Sandwich Sandwich is probably the best place in the known universe.

Sandwich Sandwich is indeed amazing, but queues can be nuts during weekday work lunches. Left Handed Giant is the place for craft ales. Their pizzas (if they still do them) are high quality too. It’s a real nice location, too.
If you like noodle hotpots, Chilli Daddies is the best place in Bristol. Pho is a posh alternative that’s a lot more mild. Otherwise I’ll get back to you on more specifics when I get back tomorrow!

Whilst on recommendations, anyone do York? Have already booked the nice Tapas place so looking for a reasonable evening meal for the second night and anything else. Obviously already doing the Minster and will have a look through the park if nice. Quite fancy one of the ghost walks and had one booked last time before we had to cancel. Did the dungeon with the kid the other year which was ace.
Craft ales don’t bother me (I’m a Philistine and tend to prefer mainstream or dad ales) so decent food is the priority, preferably not at a huge premium.
We will be sans child.
Already sussed out the Warhammer location! And Lambretta is a shop I wish we had over here.

nexus6 Went for a birthday meal this evening, but I’m already back at the apartment packing for a lovely 8 hour journey home tomorrow. Went to the Citizen, which was way more filling than it had any right to be!

York, Robinsons Cafe for breakfast/brunchy things, Barbakan is a nice Polish restaurant I go back to a bit, Pairings is a lovely wine/cocktail/charcuterie bar. Also there’s a great shipping container place full of local street food places called Spark that’s well worth a trip.

What is it with you show-offs going outside and even leaving your settlements? I say everyone stay at home and have egg and chips. Bring on the fifteen-minute cities.

drakesmoke Trembling Madness is good for a drink and a sausage sandwich around lunchtime - good quality and not too expensive (plus they have two locations in the city centre, so you can pick whichever is more convenient/less busy).
