That was quite a weird thing for me to have said in retrospect, but the hell with it. If anyone does seriously want to just turn up, i'm cool with it. We're all adults, there will be... well, probably not lots because i don't have that many friends, but at least 20 other people there.
As mentioned previously, it's going to be a poker tournament but there will be other Western-themed activities. If anyone makes a move on the object of my affection, there may even be a duel.

My feelings for Daisy are actually entirely pure. I've never had to pretend to like anything to impress any other woman, and to be honest, 'impress' was a poor choice of words.
It's more about her being able to walk into the break room, see me doing something new and unexpected, and wanting to talk about it. I wasn't entirely expecting my rendition of smooth criminal on a thumb piano to lure her into bed, like some sort of weird pied piper.
And to be fair, i've fully committed to each hobby i've picked up. Except smoking, that was included as a sort of joke.
I still don't see anything wrong with words 'broads' or 'chicks'. I did use slappers a few days ago which is maybe a little questionable, but it describes a certain type of woman and wasn't a generalisation.
Likewise, i've not long come out of a long-term relationship, so certainly haven't been obsessed with getting women to sleep with me. Yes, i've had a few dates with a woman i met on an app that i've spoken about, but nothing has happened.
This whole misogyny thing is tenuous and quite stupid, really.

Chicks, okay i can see why it might offend someone. I'll not use it going forward.
Bitches is obviously quite offensive, so i wouldn't use that.
I'm afraid i would use 'females' because i really like Friday Night Dinner.

It's going to be a spectacle for the ages. Just a bunch of the coolest people in Essex playing some cards, drinking some whiskey and enjoying ye olde pianey music and sepia tone photography.
If anyone has any ideas for other attractions inspired by the old west, let me know.
And fair enough. I'll have a think about whether or not the word broads is really okay.
I didn't mind posting the photograph Dfunked. I'm quite comfortable with my look, and do have an interest in clothing and accessories.

To be clear I don't think rod is an actual incel/alt-right whatever, but it's one of those unfortunate co-opting situations where, as fun as it is to cosplay wish.com Sam Spade, the aesthetics and general wistful reminiscences of times gone past have somewhat of a blot on them by usually being heralded by bros who believe in "tradwives" and all that bullshit. Coupled with some weird comments like the slapper one just now and it's getting into the realms of people who post shitty memes like this unironically. So, do you by all means, but like someone else said, maybe a bit of reflection and self-awareness added to it. |
