What was the Half Life boat incident? Complained that a section of half life was unplayable because he completely missed the boat he was meant to use.

What was the Half Life boat incident? Some brains trust thought you had to walk the the whole airboat sequence in half-life 2 and thusly complained that half-life 2 was shit and impossible to complete without god mode turned on.

So my Z Flip went from being basically fine but having a little bit of a mark on the crease, to just completing fucking itself when i opened it up today. The bottom half of the screen turned luminous green with white flashing flecks, and the top half went faded with a pink line running down it.
Spoke to O2, who started talking about how i didn't take out insurance. I think they expect me to pay the up to £435 it might cost to repair this thing. I also still owe them like £700 on it too. What the hell, i didn't break it... it's clearly a manufacturing fault.
Luckily i did manage to find my trusty Pixel 2. After a year and a half worth of updates, it runs like a dream. And you know what... it makes less of a mark in a trouser pocket that the Z Flip folded.

How old? Can you not tap up O2 for a replacement?

Yeah, don't settle for that. It's still under warranty.

If it’s still within warranty just take it to an O2 store and they’ll send it off for repair FOC (as long as it’s not water damage) They should be able to loan you a replacement phone whilst it’s away too (also FOC)

Thanks, i'll try that.
I only spoke to someone using the online chat today, as i was at work, and had to take a call before he could refer me to the repairer, but the way he mentioned my lack of insurance made me think i might have to pay... which is clearly ridiculous.
I'm honestly preferring the Pixel though. The Z Flip is so narrow, even after about 18 months of use i never felt overly comfortable with the keyboard. I wanted a yotaphone.

Online chat is India I think. They are on scripts so not quite as flexible as going into store You’ll be fine if it’s a manufacturer fault 👍

The phone fiasco was just the icing on what hasn't been a great couple of weeks. To cheer myself up, as it was payday a few days ago, i decided to treat myself to some new shoes. I did order the black/grey version... but they've sent black/brown. I've decided to keep these ones though, brown is way more cowboy. I don't think they'll work with any of my black work suits, but blue, grey, maybe even my white and ivory stuff...

I can't credit those specific shoes, as i've only just obtained them, but i generally do rock a pair of cheaper, less-well made, black cowboy boots that do still draw a lot of compliments. It's all about the heel chain.
These ones though, i've never owned a pair of shoes that cost more than £100 before. When i put them on, i feel like i'm somebody.

Blimey not sure I could pull them off, so to speak. That said for a few years I've had a hankering to start wearing a proper Stetson though there only seems to be about 3 places in the UK to buy one.

I'd loooooove a proper stetson.
I do have a fairly decent steer hide and leather Australian bushman's hat, that to most people just seems like a cowboy hat, but i know it's not. I have a bunch of bolo ties, but haven't quite worked up the nerve to wear them as part of my work getup yet. I've got a pewter cow skull one that i'll wear with a flannel shirt though.
To be honest, i'm slowly trying to assemble the most realistic cowboy costume i can for my birthday bash in January. This is the first time in about ten years that i feel like i'm worthy of another year of life, so i want to push the boat out and do something i did before only bigger and better.
Essentially, i'm looking to hire out a hall for a poker tournament. It won't be gambling, because everyone who turns up will just be given chips, it'll just be under tournament rules, and there will be prizes for everyone but incrementally better prizes for those who finish higher.
I want to find someone who will play old western style piano music. Photo booths are a big thing at parties these days, but i want someone with a working sepia camera to take authentic western portraits. And two massive cacti by the front entrance. That kind of thing.
I will also need to make a concerted effort to make new friends at work otherwise there will be about 5 people show up... but i'm confident in my abilities.

Currently waiting at an audiologist after going completely deaf in my right ear this morning. I absolutely freaked out to be honest! Probably compacted wax. Eesh.

They're not ladies ankle booties. They're men's winklepickers.
Generally speaking, a ladies boot would have a higher heel with more of a pronounced arch, and probably 'cuter' metal work, like a pretty buckle. I've never known any woman who would put up with impurities in the leather either like that, either. No... these are manly boots indeed.

For comparisons sake, my previous ones. I'll still wear them probably as my main working shoes, as they're a lot more understated, and the heel is wooden so it makes a really authoritive sound when i walk around the hardwood part of the office. Not a character - i just really like cowboys. I think they're cool.

Tbh the first pair are technically a roper boot rather than a true cowboy, unlike the the second ones which are a half wellington dress pattern. If that’s what you like wearing then go for it though I’d prefer a taller leg personally

Yeah, just short leg cowboy boots. A winkle picker has pretty much only the pointed toe in common with that boot, and has probably (ironically) got more in common with the women's boot you describe.

Conversations are generally a lot more interesting when you decide to bog yourself down in minor details.
The website through which i bought them used the word 'winklepickers' in the description. I have no attachment to the term, so being corrected by a pair of master cobblers on the internet is something i truly appreciate. Thanks - i'd really just rather think of them as cowboy boots.
So long as we are all in agreement that they are pretty badass and manly - macho even - then that's fine.
