Im not particularly cack handed but I do drop my phone enough to regularly think 'thank fuck it's in a case' even though I absolutely hate having one on.

I went naked and proud with my iPhone 12 until it slipped out of my pocket onto relatively soft ground from a couple of feet and the back glass spiderwebbed to oblivion. It wasn’t the front at least.

My favourite trick is leaving it on my lap and pelvic thrusting it onto the floor when I stand up.

They actively design them for cases now, with the sticky out camera lenses you need a case to make it flush. I started using a screen protector after runbing off the coating where I swipe after 2 years of my old handset

I had never used a phone case until i got the Z Flip 2. I always considered it a sign of weakness - 'oh no, my phone got a scratch'. But the Z Flip is soooooo glossy, i'd definitely risk dropping it if i unfolded it one handed.
The Pixel 2 feels amazing to hold without a case. The back metal is almost like pebble to the touch. I never should have upgraded.

I don't like how slippery most phones feel. Daft glass backs and what not.
I had a workphone a bit ago, an old blackberry. It wasn't great but it had a really nice textured back, almost leathery, but hard plastic. felt very secure and lovely to hold.
But it's not trendy so bar-of-soap it is.
