VandelayOk that makes sense yeah. See a lot of that about, along with a lot of people treating gigs as the background to drinking, and lack of awareness of personal space and generally being antisocial. I genuinely think that gigs were more comfortable places to stand (outside of the pits, which were savage at times depending on genre) when I was in my teens and twenties. You also didn’t get your view blocked by phones. It’s a symptom of social media IMO. I’ve witnessed much the same stuff, and it’s because they are considered status things to put on a Facebook status/Instagram story etc etc. I think a lot of enormo gigs now are only about 50 per cent specific fans. With people not knowing songs, we are seeing the devaluation of music and in particular the art and experience of the long player album. Firmly believe streaming for all its benefits has just made music a commodity or background now. Cloud shouting, it’s a beautiful thing.

Urgh, phones at gigs (and sporting events for that matter) can fuck off. I'd ban them.

Urgh, phones at gigs (and sporting events for that matter) can fuck off. I'd ban them. Always pisses me off too. Having some clown 'filming' a full track with a wobbling grip, random focus and appallling sound reproduction and which you know will get watched once or twice before being consigned under a cloud storage rug until said hosting company accidentally wipes the lot, gets my goat. That and incessant chat during a set. Having said that - hypocrite that I am - I took a single pic from a gig last Saturday night! In my defence, it was held in 'The Devil's Arse' cavern in Castleton. I'd never been there before so was bowled over by the location. The Creedence cover band were pretty good too.

I have occasionally taken a quick snap if close enough but filming things? And taking photos of a big screen? Bin/sea/whatever

Haha, I've never understood taking pictures of the big screen. If there's crowd and the rest of the stage in shot then sure, go for it. If you're zooming in to only capture whatever is showing on a massive telly then just put your fucking phone away.

I've seen people turning up with full on portable phone steady cam cradles, but they're deep in the crowd so they're not some hired photographer or cameraman.

Seems unlikely I'm going to see Oasis next year. Went to Ticketmaster and See Tickets at 8.30 this morning, thinking that would give me plenty of time to make sure I have accounts and am logged in before the 9am release... I've been sitting in queues just to get on both websites since then, not even the queue for the actual tickets.
See Tickets is just a page saying they are busy that refreshes every 20 seconds. Ticketmaster has a progress bar, that I would say isn't going to be complete for another 30 minutes at least.

You’ve all got the wrong brother as the tw*t. Back then fair enough but now Liam comes across as a pretty zen guy in interviews and Noel is totally reactionary, probably quasi Tory and hates the young. I was thinking this. Liam might be off-puttingly confident/arrogant but these days his heart seems broadly in the right place. Noel is the one saying Glastonbury has gone woke for having fewer traditional rock acts in the headline spots and was upset this summer that its all too political these days. And he no showed the Manchester arena bombing memorial concert.

I saw the bleachers on Tuesday in Brixton. Was one of the best atmospheres I’ve seen, just a great vibe and passionate crowd for the whole set. They posted as much on their instagram after saying it a once in a lifetime show for a band to play.
Protoje, Nas and xcx to come in the next few months.
I would have been up for oasis but so many artists really taking the piss with the £££. Bleachers was £45, protoje £30, xcx £48, Nas £80. They are what I feel is a fair prices.
My daughter also wanted to see Dua Lipa and Billie but I think both were around that shit oasis price tag. There’s no justification except greed. Selling out Wembley at £50 per ticket still makes you millions.

Aye, I was shocked to see the prices. I assumed they would be about the same as Blur last year, which I think were around £80. At worst, I thought they would be just over £100, rather than the £150 that the standing tickets actually are. Hear some people saying that there is some "dynamic pricing" shit going on as well, so prices for some of the last few tickets has doubled.
Given up now. Did manage to get in an actual ticket queue (after going directly to date page rather than sitting in the site queue, which stopped moving). Was 350000ish in the queue though, so seemed pointless waiting it out.
I'll probably try to keep an eye to see if some resale tickets come up on Ticketmaster, which are supposed to only be at face value. Won't go for a third party reseller, as I'm sure the prices will be extortionate.

££$$££
Cheaper and probably a lot easier to get a group of mates to club together and hire Noasis for a private party, would probably be a lot more fun too.

Wasn’t Pearl Jam at Spurs Stadium like £150-200?
My limit is still around £50 so I’m getting priced out of arena gigs too now. Not that I have many free nights to go these days.

Aye, hard to justify more tbh. I might go to £100 but it would have to be someone I was desperate to see. And there ain't many of those left.

How are Ticketmaster still unable make a website that doesn't buckle under demand for every single big concert?? When their entire job is selling tickets for big concerts?

To be fair to them, I didn't have any issues with the site crashing or being unresponsive. It was just endless queuing from the volume of people. More of an issue was the fact that I found about 2 hours after joining that queue that I could by pass it by just entering the venue and date in Google and going straight to the ticket page!
I'm certain a large number of tickets will have gone to bots and touts, and you now seeing the crazy prices on resale sites... except the Dublin dates, where it is illegal to sell tickets above the face value.

Any rumours on the supports?
Not the biggest fan, but if they cam here I would definitely pay $150 with decent supporting acts.

Number 1 story on the news all day has been people trying to buy tickets. Nuts.
Hats off to whoever at ITV's idea it was to play the line "hold on" from Stop Crying Your Heart Out against stories of people waiting for hours trying to log on.

Ok, if they actually have a decent queuing system (not counting the bypass thing) then that's a different story.

The Charli xcx tickets I got for my daughter were dynamically priced at £150. A week later when I searched again I got them for about £45 when they hadn’t all sold out and went back to the original listed price.

Dynamic pricing fuck me. And fuck Oasis to hell for gouging off it. This. I know a lot of people who noped out of getting the tickets when they eventually got in. Standing tickets for £300 plus when they started at 75? Fuck you ticketbastard/noel/liam. We baulked at 200. Fuck that. Rip off practices can do one.

If ticketmaster don’t want regulating, they probably shouldn’t have ticked the ‘enable price gouging’ box on tickets being bought primarily by middle aged civil servants.

£150 would have been my absolute limit (and even that seems a bit mad). If I had have got through and there were only those inflated prices available I wouldn't have bothered.
No idea how they can justify selling identical tickets for such a massive price hike. Suspect there might be quite the backlash (which will also be quite telling about the media, as obviously this stuff has been going on for years with other acts).
