Saw them recently and they are still amazing.
They have one of the best front men in the business and ninjas I'm not sure what else you need 😂

I'm not even their biggest fan (apart from a couple of all time classics) but they are just so much fun to see live that I would go weekly if I could.

Spent Sat this weekend at Made of Stone rock festival. Great times at a super mid size venue (Mote Park, Maidstone).
Highlights were:
Those Damn Crows - Welsh rockers with a growing pedigree and big anthemic rock anthems from their latest great album Inhale/Exhale. Very likeable, obviously highly committed and high energy set. 8/10
The Warning - this 3 piece of Mexican young ladies Rock! You can hear the key influences in their great new album from Muse and Royal Blood amongst others. The lead singer’s English is more controlled and confident than when we last saw them supporting Muse. Loved nearly every song. Terrific! 8.5/10
Tyketto - knew nothing about this band prior to the festival but a classic rock band with some modern tunes in the mix and a lead singer with a fantastic voice. Very likeable and high energy set. I hope I can pull that sort of energy in my early 60’s when it comes around! 7.5/10
Honourable mentions included South Of Salem, When Rivers Meet and Wayward Sons amongst a few others too.
Skipped on headliners Wolfmother as not our type of band and fancied beating the crowds out early.
Really fantastic day of great Rock music and felt very good value for money. Will definitely go again for a similar strength lineup! 8.5/10 overall!

That sounds wicked. Loved those sorts of day events. Nice to see some up and coming, as well as established but not necessarily famous, acts.

I really enjoy a typical rock festival crowd too compared to a more mixed Indie/multi genre crowd. The whole crowd are there for a genre they love and share their love for music. Wide range of ages there, including family groups from pre-teens to elderly. Little to no aggro. Majority of crowd listen to each act. Gets a little frayed at the end of day but a full day out in the sun drinking and dabbling and some get worse for ware but no fights, fires or any such nonsense. Compared to Reading festival crowd for example the day was bliss. Long love Rock Crowds!

Shitty cramped venue though, I'd love to have seen them somewhere bigger.

If anyone's in the Brighton area, my mate's band Lower Slaughter (classic noise / stoner rock) are supporting Melt Banana (classic Japanese batshit crazy punk rock) at the Concorde 2 on 26th Sept. Should be a fun one!

Am I one of the few rolling their eyes at yet more reports of people getting upset by hyper inflated gig tickets? (Sabrina Carpenter the latest supposedly at around £250 a ticket minutes after available launch).
If you choose to follow and want to go to performances by such artists then more fool you. DON’T go. Boycot them for their greed and acceptance of the profiteering ticket platforms. OR just join the idiot flock and pay the stupid price. Them’s the choices. It’s open market conditions. Spend your money wisely. Tell such acts to stick their ridiculous ticket prices by not buying the damn tickets! Simples!

Sabrina Carpenter was playing here 2 or 3 months ago, and prices were dirt cheap. I ignored it because she seemed like a minor artist. Then a few weeks later she seemed to blow up huge.
Shucks...

Well the good news for you is that she was good(ish) then and she is still good(ish) now. From what I am aware she has not just evolved into gods new greatest singing gift. She just found herself massively on trend. Urgh!
Unlike what the percentage increase in her ticket prices suggest she is not 10x the artist she was then and her performance won’t be either. In fact I’d wager she might not even be 2x the value.
So be proud in your un-sheepishness standing out from the flock.
/salutes you

Well, guess I've reached the point where I've not even heard of the acts selling tickets for hundreds of quid. And I'm quite content in my ignorance.

Saw Death From Above 1979 last week at the o2 Ritz in Manchester, they played the entirety of their debut Your a Woman I'm a Machine as well as a few choice cuts from their three other albums. They were absolutely fantastic with the crowd really into it.
Can't believe the debut album is 20 years old.

I’m not into the ‘vote with your wallet’ stuff sorry. Half of those inflated prices will be driven by resell sites owned by the ticket agencies themselves, and bots and scalpers always inflate prices. Regulate the bastards I say, football too.

I am only familiar with them because of that song of theirs that was featured in a Jessica Jones episode, but it is a very good song.

Clown Cores replacement at Arc Tan Gent is Spiritualized, not listened to them in years but a nice addition.

Pip blom next week for me. Barely heard much from them, but a mate wants to go. I saw them when they supported The Breeders a few years ago. They played really well live and it was a solid set. Wouldn't say they were a favourite, but if you like similar bands, pretty sure you will enjoy the show.

Was going to make a comment that the name sounds like characters from In The Night Garden or similar kids show, but turns out that's the name of their lead singer so it'd feel rude. And I Wouldn't want to upset her brother, Ninky Nonk.

The View are playing a greatest hits tour down in Pompey Wedgewood Rooms in Dec.
I’ve had these same jeans shorts on for 4 days now so I might have to book some tickets!

I am extremely tempted to book tickets for HEALTH in London in October.
Clicked on the page for Electric Brixton, and the first event being advertised there was Bob fucking Vylan.

Fuck me. That was a great gig!
All the songs went down a treat and we had a backstage room in the upstairs of this absolutely mental pub and shared it with the other bands, who were great to meet.
Glasweigan band, a metal German band and us, totally insane and I haven't seen that many drugs passed around in a back room for a long time. And I'm 52 for fucks sake!
Cracking night though
Will sleep tonight 10/10

Bit of longshot but work have fucked my plans to see The Roots, De La Soul and Pharcyde at Crystal Palace Bowl tonight. Have a VIP ticket to get rid of and happy to sell it for half the face value. This is the gig: southfacingfestival.com/event/the-roots/Drop me a message if you're interested. Gutted to not go, but for any old hip-hop heads it should be a great gig.
