Continuing from the other place... I Saw That Years Ago - Robert Redford's looking for... THE HOT ROCK. With special guest Jason Lenzi from Plaid Stallions Jason is one of the funniest guests we have had on. He's made TV shows, done voiceovers and even started his own toy company, creating products for Star Trek and more. He's also one-half of Pod Stallions, the podcast of the fantastic Plaid Stallions retro toy and nostalgia site. I think this is longest show we've ever put up, as there was so much to talk and laugh about. Yup. Used to play online way back at least, and more than a few of us listen to it I'm sure.

I mean, it depends. If the OP is going to join in and be active on here then it’s mostly harmless. If his only contributions are to be to swing in with a link and then disappear until next time then it’s kind of a dick move.

Better head to the What are you currently playing thread and pretend to like video games. I recommend Dark Souls 2, make sure you say it's the best one

To be clear that wasn’t some random mod threat, that’s just my opinion.

I’d let it slide. Was part of the furniture of the old place

IDGAF was an active member of early 360 Xbox Live Eurogamer sessions and if memory serves, a good guy.

Never engaged in that thread, so it got my hackles up a bit when it appeared to be a promo

I never understood why this spammer got a pass. That's a fair question. I was on the EG forum for 14/15 years, read it daily. I was also on a gaming podcast with one of the EG team. Eventually that fell by the wayside and I ended up talking about movies with a mate. Felt natural to post about it on the old forum, so why not here?

I Saw That Years Ago - David McCallum and Joanna Lumley are fighting the elements in... SAPPHIRE AND STEEL The premise of the podcast is that we re-watch films and TV shows we haven't seen in years and barely remember. (Really, it's just an excuse for my friend and I to try to make each other laugh with stupid jokes.) I think it had been 40-ish years since I saw Sapphire and Steel. It was quite weird. Have to say it didn't work for me at all. The humour wasn't my thing (Ewar Woowar for instance couldn't end soon enough) and the actual topic you were supposed to be discussing seemed to cover very little of the podcast (it felt like 20 minutes out of a couple of hours). For me, when you actually spoke about the series and forgot the humour, I found it good and interesting, but I found myself skipping through the rest of it looking for what I thought the show was meant to be about. You're in your 312th podcast, so I assume you've got a large audience who love it a lot more than I do. I figure they're used to the style. It also sounds like you're having fun and that's what matters I guess, but it felt a bit forced and I'd have liked a lot more of the podcast to be about the stated topic and a lot less humour which in this episode at least, didn't work for me. Maybe do the jokey off topic stuff afterwards?

Thanks for giving a try at least. It's insightful that you said you were looking for what the show was meant to be about, as that's something others have said over the years.
We've ended up with a show that looks like it should be film criticism, but I think has ended up being about two friends trying to make each other laugh -- with the film as something to spark discussion.
We have tried to tinker with the format a bit, but I think it's into a groove now. However I'll tell Martyn and maybe we can try to keep it a bit more on-topic in some future episodes.
I think part of what's confusing for listeners is that the film criticism aspect is actually quite good. We've had a few reviews praising it. But it's lost in a morass of poo and pee jokes. But said jokes make me laugh every time we do them, which has been hugely important in tough times.
ANyway, thanks again for giving it a go.

I Saw That Years Ago - Robin Williams joins... THE DEAD POETS SOCIETY Martyn had covid in January and it knocked him for six. Thankfully he's vaccinated and boosted otherwise I think it would have been far worse. We did the first half of this before he fell ill and managed to finish it while he was trying to get better. He's still recovering, but we're hoping to try to record more regularly depending on how he's feeling. Listen on the website: istya.libsyn.com/ep-316-dead-poets-society-1989-movie-reviewFind the show on other platforms linktr.ee/isawthatyearsago
