I really enjoy playing Hades and most of Supergiant's work, but one thing that really didn't click with me was the music in this one. Some parts of it just sound like someone noodling around on a bass without any particular hook or direction. The pieces with vocals seem like they are way too aware of the success of the Bastion soundtrack and are just trying to recreate that vibe. A fairly minor niggle, but it always sticks out to me when I go back to play Hades.

I loved the music, and the Orpheus and Eurydice "moment" gave me genuine chills. Each to their own I guess eh.

Yeah, music is famously subjective, I hear!

I suspect the bass-noodling is a consequence of the dynamic music, which often only leaves the bass during quiet, non-combat moments in a run, with the melody only kicking in during combat. In general, the music sounded like they really wanted to do something different with the music than the usual "ethnic" vibe. (I don't know what else to call it, I don't know music.) Electric guitars really weren't a thing in previous Supergiant soundtracks, but every combat track in Hades throws in a whole rock band. Hell, when the guitars kick in on The King and the Bull, it sounds like they came straight from Doom E1M1! The tracks with vocals sound very different too because of the high-pitched singing voice Darren uses for Orpheus, which makes the whole thing sound quite different to me. I'm not the biggest fan of it, but maybe they chose that because it was thematically appropriate or something. Did the Ancient Greeks sing in a high voice? Is it even possible to know that?

Made it to Hades again. Failed again. I've made 21 attempts so far..
Next time I'll do it!

It took me just under 90 attempts to beat Hades, but rubbish as I am there'senough meta progression tyo make you feel that you are progressing.
In other news I just discovered that you can fight Charon - I won the first fight and there's a decent reward, but it seems that I have started something.

I should have put Charon on that list of post-game stuff I stil have to do- only tried twice and got destroyed both times. I'm on a Hades holiday because of Hot Wheels, but I'm definitely not done with it.

Defeat Megaera for the first time, then like a complete cabbage walk into the lava on the first chamber of Asphodel and die. What a twat

One of the reasons I got the split pad pro was controller drift on the switch kept wandering me into the lava which is obviously throwing-into-the-tv annoying.

I swear whenever I enable Heightened Security I find myself standing in lava unnecessarily.

I swear whenever I enable Heightened Security I find myself standing in lava unnecessarily. 100% this. Also, if I take the "reduced damage from traps" boon (from Artemis I think?) that's a guarantee I won't hit a single trap for the rest of the run.

Still terrible at this, but improving. Out of around 25 runs I have beat Megaera five times and finally reached the second boss this morning. Gave it a good go, but got killed pretty quickly when the second round of additional enemies appeared and the bullet hell attacks started.
I've read back through the thread for tips. It seems that I have wasted my meagre supply of blood on the sword instead of unlocking the aspects.
I have found the cast can be pretty good. Got a Zeus chain lightening boon for it that was really good for clearing weaker enemies, paired it with a couple of others and was able to spam it to great effect through Tartarus and Asphodel.
I rarely use the call, it doesn't seem to last long enough to be really worthwhile. Am I missing something here?

No you can safely ignore call for now IMO, I only ever really started to use it to come in handy for the final boss. Cast is very valuable though, once you have one of the decent boons for it. I found sword to be the hardest weapon, but don't panic to much that you've wasted your blood ( I did the same)

Call is good for burst damage and ‘get off me’ moments. Some are better than others, though. I don’t think it’s considered that strong but I do always tend to take Athena’s just because it’s a good finishing move.
One of the more fun builds I had was Athena’s call and a duo boon that caps your god gauge at 25% but constantly and quickly refills it. It was like having another cast, it was really cool.

Good to know I've not been missing anything with the call.
Managed to defeat the bone hydra thing on my second attempt, which was pretty surprising. Used the spear with decent boons for the special and it was fairly straightforward. Even got a few chambers into Elysium - those butterfly balloon things can do one.

I find call most useful for opening the door to the Legendary and Duo boons when you don't want to change the boon you already have on attack/special/cast/dash, eg. I almost always look for Athena on dash, so any boon before/after that with a choice of dash or call I'd take call. But otherwise its just a bonus for the bosses (and don't forget the trophy for using call against the same god in the trials).
Speaking of trophies I'm about 75% of the way to the platinum, but it's starting to get really grindy. Maxing out all the keepsakes is the worst. I think I'm at about the playtime when I finally managed to stop on PC.

I find call pretty useful if you take one that makes you invulnerable- Athena, Ares, Poseidon. And Poseidon's call in particular can rack up some crazy damage if you get lucky with complementary boons of his- knockback causes Rupture, more damage from wall smash, more damage to bosses etc.

I played this via game pass. I normally hate this type of insta death bollocks, but the god mode makes it so much more accessible that its probably my most played game of the year. I love using the lightning gauntlets for super zappy fun.

Decided to jump a few ranks and go to 16 heat on the rail to get Skelly's trophy early - lucked out with a near-perfect Festive Fog build, smashed Hades in 38 seconds and came home in under 20 mins in total \o/

Finally completed a second run after 112 goes - I'm just a bit rubbish and wish I'd put god mode on from the start. I'm still enjoying it though, but would like to see the end soon :-) How many completions are needed to see the story play out?

Progressing slowly. Managed to get to Thesius and the Minotaur once, and didn't last long. The butterfly mini-boss is a fucking bastard. And the witch bullet hell one in Asphodel, I don't know how you're meant to do that without some kind of reflect boon.
Have had very poor luck with boons on my last few runs.

I think the only way I made progress honestly was waiting for God mode to reach max. When it got to that stage I was able to complete the game.

I think half my problem is that I panic with that mini-boss. Anyway, managed to get to Styx for the first time this morning with a slightly better, but not great, build. Didn't last very long though. I need more Titan Blood to rev my weapons up.
