I have a vague memory of Kirstie Alley being one of the celebrities that Scientology wheeled out when they were doing everything they could to make John Sweeney look bad during his Panorama film about their weird bullshit.

Jamie Lee Curtis said the two "agreed to disagree" about things. Kelsey Grammer said he didn't want to make a big statement but that he loved her when her knew her.
That's some gooood sugar coating, guys.

She seemed like a genuinely horrible person. RIP. Always telling to read the statement from the family. 'Fierce mother' is quite a good one. I've known some 'fierce' women before....!

Victor Lewis-Smith died. The rest of satire should go with him, it has had its day.

Angelo Badalamenti dead.
Composer who worked a lot with David Lynch, but a huge swathe of other artists. The Twin Peaks theme is a particular highlight.
It's a deepcut of his ouvre but his album with Tim Booth was fantastic, this is still just a ridiculously sensual song

Absolutely fucking gutted with this.
His work on Twin Peaks was such an important part of the show; it can't be overstated enough. For my money it's the best music to any TV show ever.
Nothing else really compares. RIP.

He basically improvised the iconic theme tune too.
"David came to my little office across from Carnegie Hall and said, “I have this idea for a show, Northwest Passage.” I remember saying, “That sounds like something I read in junior high school.” [chuckles] He sat next to me at the keyboard and said, “I haven’t shot anything, but it’s like you are in a dark woods with an owl in the background and a cloud over the moon and sycamore trees are blowing very gently….” I started to press the keys for the opening chord to “Twin Peaks Love Theme,” because it was the sound of that darkness. He said, “A beautiful troubled girl is coming out of the woods, walking towards the camera….” I played the sounds he inspired. “And she comes closer and it reaches a climax and….” I continued with the music as he continued the story. “And from this, we let her go back into the dark woods.” The notes just came out. David was stunned, as was I. The hair on his arms was up and he had tears in his eyes: “I see Twin Peaks. I got it.” I said, “I’ll go home and work on it.” “Work on it?! Don’t change a note.” And of course I never did."

Yeah that's really sad. To say his work was iconic would be an understatement.

This is the one, for me. From a scene in fire walk with me and it absolutely blew me away. The mood, the atmosphere, it absolutely hooked me in and I was a fan of Lynch ever since. Just that scene made everything click into place and I got it. It also made me quite fond of that southern gothic vibe in general.

I fell in love with Lynch through Twin Peaks and undoubtedly, the Badalamenti score was as an integral component that made that world such a magical place. It's clear from their other collaborations (and interviews) that Badalamenti was not just a good friend, but a creative partner, capable of understanding and then conveying the mood, tension, and drama in David's vision perfectly. Sad news, but he's left behind an incredible body of work which will live on.
Too many amazing pieces to pick a favourite but here's a few (on top of the TP theme, and The Pink Room).

While not a massive fan of Twin Peaks or Lynch, it has the best soundtrack to anything ever. I put it above anything by John Williams or the OST for Lawrence of Arabia.
