Darius Denesh of Pop Idol fame has died aged 40... ... ... ... ... ...1.

Another bad thing about the young dying like that these days is the antivaxx dog whistling you get in the comment sections.
Already, 'Oooh another early death, if only we could find a common link' all over the news stories.
Turning 40 this year and Darius always looked waaaaay healthier than me so it's a scary one.

This a "joke" on a song he did?

No age at all, but to his credit he fit quite a bit in to that life.
Most memorable character in Pop Idol, arguably was the model of what talent shows would be going forward.
Number #1 single
Married the fucking alien from Species!!!!!
Broadway career etc etc
But mostly banging the hot alien from Species.
Not bad for a guy everyone wrote off as the world’s biggest dickhead in the nineties.

Me too. And he used to be married to Natasha Henstridge?! I just did a double take when I read that too.

Shame. I remember him from back then. Same age as me too, and from near to where I grew up.
Not that any of that matters, just came across like quite a nice guy.

I'd probably be dead if I had her in the wank bank too.

Rylan Clarke, also a presenter and a former talent show contestant, said: “Proper sad about Darius”.
Quite the eulogy there.

About as good as "the alien from species was hot!," to be fair.

Wolfgang Peterson. Guess I’ll be rewatching the super long TV version of Das Boot this weekend then.

How in the name of all fuck has the Rushdie attacker plead "Not guilty"? Because if he'd wanted to do murder, he'd have brought a gun.

About as good as "the alien from species was hot!," to be fair. I think he’d want to be remembered for that over that effing Britney Spears rendition anytime. They said the death wasn’t suspicious, which we can interpret as either misadventure or suicide. Very sad.

Weird how he only made one film since 2006.

Well they didn't report it as misadventure. Maybe he just died in his sleep, not to be morose but I think we take it for granted that we'll just wake up tomorrow. It's fucking shit but it appears he had a bloody good life.

But fair play to the guy. He could have been a one note joke on a reality show, but he managed to do a hell of a lot. Hit singles and albums, opera training, stage performances, producing in Hollywood. He did a lot more with his 41 years than I've done with mine. If I fucked off the planet tomorrow I would leave nothing more than a collection of NECA figures and a load of unfulfilled ambitions.

But I'll let someone here use my AI generated avatar of a cyborg flask for sausages in the style of Rene Magritte.

If I fucked off the planet tomorrow I would leave nothing more than a collection of NECA figures and a load of unfulfilled ambitions. He's done a lot of things, but so have we all. We can't ask be famous and we can't all achieve our dreams. For some of us, waving our kids off to school from a home we live in and with a uniform we've managed to get for them is more than enough for one lifetime. I know you get this, but it's important to realise that all that shit we do all day to pay the bills so our kids can be setup as best we can is as important if not more so. I've done lots in the past, but what does it matter? The only thing I'll leave behind will be my children and for a brief time a memory. Until then, I'm still alive and although my time is drawing to a close and I start regretting the past, each choice I made brought me here and those other regrets I have might have resulted in me not getting this far or have led to a far worst life. As an older person, I can confirm that you come to terms with the missed opportunities and the paths your life might have taken and you accept it for what it is. Not what it might be, not what it could, just what it is. Older people tend to be more content with themselves than they ever were in their lives. It was a bit of a struggle dealing with those "what ifs" for a while though I will admit. But who knows what I might yet achieve with my life. But as long as I'm happy, I don't really care as it's all meaningless in the end.

I blame the above post on just watching lord of the rings videos. I feel it should be read in the voice of Gandalf with Frodo and Sam looking across the Dead Marshes towards Mount Doom.

The second part of my post was tongue in cheek. Don't worry. I have my fair share of issues but I keep them to the appropriate thread. It was more a commentary on that I was quite impressed with the guy's attitude in going beyond a one note joke and how it seemed to have paid off for him to some degree.

I'm listening to the LotR audio books right now as it happens so I'm in that frame of mind as well. I'm happy to read your post in Gandalf's voice, and all your subsequent posts if you like.

I think the funniest thing I've learnt about Darius is that while promoting a water charity and their magic water filter, he drank filtered water from a Thames sewage outlet which gave him viral meningitis and he went into a coma.
