Especially when there's also Blu Ray editions available for people who don't have a 4K player. It actually makes zero sense. At least if they had their own packaging you could re-sell them or gift them but instead it just seems absolutely wasteful, and pointless.
Hoping to get some deals during Prime sales this week. On "the list" is: Dune 2, MM Furiosa, True Romance and Prometheus.

It's normally because the blu ray disc has features that, basically, didn't fit on the 4k disc.

I assume the original thought was that they wanted people who didn't have a 4K player to buy the 4K version in anticipation of them upgrading at some point.
They often don't bother including extras on the 4K discs and just leave them on the regular Blu-ray. It also costs them nothing to chuck those discs in, so I wouldn't expect there to be a price reduction on a 4k disc only edition.

If the Blu-ray was actually worth money, I'd print off a sleeve and get some cases.. then flog them to CEX. I'd probably break even with having to buy the cases ha.

I used to give the digital choices to my sister but they seem to have all stopped including those now. Yeah Special features are usually on a BD which is fine but even more annoying when you then get 3 discs in the case. I would be happy with just the film and no Special features.

I bought Starship Troopers 25th Anniversary 4K blu-ray recently from Amazon US, and I got a code with it for a digital version. I really want a digital version in 4K, which may be possible using this code, but I'm not sure.
It seems to advise redeeming it via Movies Anywhere, but that's a US service. I already have a digital version of Starship Troopers on Apple TV, but it isn't 4K, due to UK rights issues.
So, I was wondering if anyone has experience of redeeming these US digital codes, and where the best place to redeem it would be to best ensure a 4K version?

That's not a bad shout, but all the films I've bought on YouTube have extremely quiet volume, in complete contrast to YouTube user videos which are extremely loud. This is via my LG TV's built-in YouTube app.

Just watching it now funnily enough. To my eyes it looks pretty fucking good! They definitely seem to have learnt a few lessons from the AI botching of T2/True Lies etc.
