So I've decided to try and pick one or two and get into those. Maybe Lego or Painting Warhammer or Guitar. The issue is that my other half doesn't have any hobbies, and then I feel guilty if I'm 'wasting time' on something frivolous. teach her to play bass.

It's probably a sign of getting old, but I'm finding myself spending more and more time out in the garage (my workshop, really), pootling about doing little projects and fixing or building stuff, generally making mess and noise and not being told to clean it up. It's quite cathartic and as I've typed this, I've just had a huge insight into my dad when I was a youth. Yes I've been doing this a fair bit lately, I can often find something to do in there, often not essential at all, got my sounds and a comfy chair, just need a bed and kettle and I might move in! š Haha, sounds great.
Maj already has a bed in there, mind you. Kettle would be nice, though. Although, I've been making hiking poles lately and the dust is incredible.

Use your free time and creative energy to make pointless images.
PS/ I was honestly in the middle of watching a youtube video on how to improve focus when I got distracted doing this. sigh.

Well I'm off out to the garage for half an hour, I expect to feel brilliant for it and take a sense of achievement and rush from creating something .....

If I ever win the lottery, I'm going to spend my time building a house to absurd specification. There will be wonky rooms. The materials will be willfully inappropriate. I will have a grand library with shelves full of Kindles each containing exactly one book.
This will be done with the specific goal of getting on Grand Designs over a series of years that chronicle my downward spiral and baffle Kevin McCloud, making that funny look of disbelief he does with his face permanent.
The house will never be finished, but my legacy will be complete.

I bet there's a few half made episodes in the archives of such builds already, you will never achieve your legacy I'm afraid.

Love the idea, but how will you know which Kindle contains which book?
Also have a set of iPads containing different sections of wikipedia.

I am relating a lot with most of you here right now, not enough time and too many things I want to do. My main issue is by the time the kid is in bed, I then want to squeeze in time with my wife, time with just me (as this is something I very much need) and then time to sleep. I keep reading at the moment how sleep is the biggest impact on health and a longer life, but because I'm trying to do as many things as possible in the few hours I have outside of working and being a parent I go to bed stupidly late. It's an endless cycle of trying to grasp time for myself.
So when it comes to hobbies I have to try and fit in the active stuff (paddleboarding, surfing, football, hitting the heavy bag), the mindful stuff (gardening, model painting, reading) and then the mindless shit (gaming, TV), and that's after getting some quality family time in. HOW. THE. FUCK?!?!
I need to come into a large amount of money and then I can fuck work off and reclaim my life.

It's tough. At this stage of a lot of our lives, there's so much to be doing after work. My kids are quite young though so might get some writing done.. Yeah make the most of that man. Mine's up later than I am half the time now. There's no respite!! Started writing last night and I got harrassed in to playing Apex Legends with him. He's been on at me for ages to try it so finally relented. Our first game together and we came second. I'd like to say it was down to me but I was still trying to figure out how to heal as he was zooming about the place killing every one. I'll try. My boys are gone to bed by 8 usually but don't sleep well. Most times I just watch tv and relax but I don't think I can anymore. The only thing I enjoy on tv at the moment is Staged. Anything I find tiring to watch. I'll download software tonight and even if I put a single paragraph on the screen, it's a step forward

Can relate to all of this; I've got a huge backlog of games I want to play/series or films I want to watch, but by the time I usually sign off work (around 1900) I'm rarely in the mood to even choose one thing to do, not to mention I should be getting some exercise. Now that the footy is on again, it's even worse because seemingly there's always a match on that JuniorFE will watch, claiming my attention as well...

It really highlights how distracted we are by things, and how a routine can really fuck us up.
I've wanted to write since I was a boy, when my teacher in secondary school read out my essay in class. Here I am, 38 next month and I haven't done anything beyond a few notes in a notebook.
But now I can feel something, like a sort of anxiousness to do something stopping me from enjoying the usual stuff I do.
It's spurred me on anyway to start writing. I don't think it's a midlife crisis, just growing unease as I watch my life slide by.
Even if I self-publish whatever I come up with on Amazon, it'll be an accomplishment.

It's entirely why I want to retire. I know some people feel like they might be lost without work, but personally, work gets in the way of doing things I actually want to do.

On a different grumble, someone in my road has decided to buy a huge caravan and park it on the roadside. Not only does this completely block the pavement, but it has been stopping the rubbish collection from being able to reach us further on down the road (its a dead end), so our bins are just going uncollected.
Other than this driving me up the wall, I'm curious whether anyone here knows who you're supposed to contact to report this sort of thing? Because from our initial looking, the answer appears to be no one.

But yeah, itās the financial bit I donāt get. Youtube doesnāt pay THAT much on its own, right? But you often see people in their 20s do like a video in Brazil one week, then the next theyāre in Spain or the Philippines. Like how can you afford that?

Have you spoke to the owners yet? If not speak to them first, especially regarding the bins.

Environmental health with the council, tell them the issue about no bin collections and hopefully they can forward the email to the right place. That's how it usually works here.

Have you spoke to the owners yet? If not speak to them first, especially regarding the bins. Its not clear who the owners are. If it blocks tomorrow mornings collection as well, I'm going to leave a polite note, take a few photos and ask some of the neighbors if they know who owns it. If I'm not on here tomorrow, know that I was likely killed by an angry mobile home owner.
