I've been spoilt for the past 20 years living in and around London with transport options, so coming back to Devon was a real shock and reminded me of the days as a youth shitting myself about missing a bus home and being late (as the next one would be an hour) and getting a bollocking from the parents.
I honestly expected it to have improved somewhat, but no, still as shite as it ever was.

Yeah screw living outside of London.  . Every city needs an underground network. I've been tempted with Brighton or Bristol over the years but never moved. I'm definitely a city person, when I goto Devon or other more rural counties nothing really appeals. Places like Tokyo and NYC appeal far more than the shire. |

I recently did a quote for a graphic design job going into 11 languages. I quoted 4.5 hours per language. This morning I receive a go ahead for the job instructing me to deliver by the end of the day.
Now, maths isn't my strong point either, but I'm pretty sure it's not too hard to see the potential problem there.

I'm no maths expert myself, but I think this is what you need to do:
- Start with your initial quote of 4.5 hours per language;
- Remove the decimal point, leaving you with 45 hours per language;
- Change the word 'hours' to 'minutes', giving you 45 minutes per language;
- Multiply 45 minutes by 11, for a total of 8.5 hours' worth of work (rounded up);
- Wrap up around 17:15, and submit the finished project by the close of play at 17:30.

I have the content, but I have to handle the import myself, so I'm currently doing that via automation (hence why I can chat on here while I wait).
The quote was actually pretty tight as it happens. They weren't happy with the original estimate provided by our production teams, so it came to me to provide a estimate as close to the bone as possible. Its also full of bespoke handwritten fonts which will certainly not work in some of the Asian languages. And lastly, one of the langs is Hindi, which is a bit of a tricky customer, diacritically speaking.
Still, I like a challenge.

The new plan for the NHS is hilariously bad.
Cutting the qualifications by 12 months just to rush people through is a terrible idea.
No mention of pay rises or better working conditions .
We have over 100,000 vacancies because no one wants the jobs. So how does creating more education placements fix that?
I also saw a headline to halve the amount of medical staff from abroad. Errr we need to double the amount of foreign medical staff you utter fuck wits.
I'm getting to the point where I might quit, go private or go abroad. Not sure how much longer I'll stay in the NHS.
