Cousin had to work so the journey worry was moot. It was an incredible journey too - quite a daft thing to say about 90mins on the M1/M42 but compared to what it could have been it was top bollocks. You had the coke didn't you?

I missed the SMB2 rant, but it’s my favourite 2D Mario. Looks, sounds and plays amazing. I can see why folk would prefer 3 or World, but for me it’s the best one to revisit and by far the most fun to mess around with.

So I got a referral to a urologist: four hospitals around here, and only one with appointments I can book–in May 2024. The GP was apologetic and suggested going private.

It would have been–had I not jacked in the job last month… I mean, I can still afford to see a specialist for that first examination, but probably not the surgery.

That’s shit man. I thought things were bad up here but that’s ten times worse. I never had to wait more than a month for my urology appointments. I hope that next year isn’t the case and you end up getting something sooner.

Can you get the examination done to get on the surgery list sooner? The last thing you want is an exam in May '24 and surgery in May '25

Fucking dick head older people who bought houses in the 70s and 80s. I've heard it so many times in person and read something online about "oh you think these new rates are bad, have a look at the interest rate is the 70s"
Yeah I'm aware you old pricks that the interest rate is higher but I also have borrow about 10x what you did, is the interest rate 10x??? No? Then fuck off.
My parents house must be worth £700,000 now. They bought it late 80s for about £60,000, so yeah their interest rate was higher but dad borrowed £30,000 FFS.
Twats.
Fucking twats. Luckily I have 4 years left on my rate but I know three different couples that with in a year will be paying about £400-700 more per month. At the current rate today I'll be paying £800 per month more if it ran out now.
Oh but the interest rate went even higher when I borrowed £8 for my house.
Don't get me started on the bank of England.
Rage.

I have a colleague who has paid off his mortgage that he got late 80s early 90s and says very similar platitudes when I've said my mortgage has gone up 30%. It's incredibly frustrating.

Try smashing his face off the edge of the nearest table. That might help with the frustration.

Why the hell do bug reports always come in at 6pm on a Friday? Sorry, no changes to production systems after lunch on a Friday. It's the law.

Yeah, I thought no change Friday was a universal thing? By all means schedule it, but that means you're supporting it too!

It does seem like a sensible law. Does it apply internationally? I fixed it by about 7:30, but by that time there was no-one left to review or qa it so I decided against pushing it to production just in case.
Partly because my brain wasn't really working by that point. It'd have probably crashed the internet or something.

I wish all these safe as fuck white guy with a guitar singing sad twat songs singer songwriter types that seem to be absolutely everywhere in the UK would kindly fuck off.
Ed Sheeran, Lewis Capaldi, Tom Walker, Hozier, George Ezra, James Bay, Dermot Kennedy, Sam Fender, Tom Grennan and anyone else - just go away and take your inauthenticity and insincerity with you.
Probably the most unoriginal rant in this thread (I'm pretty sure I've even ranted about it before) but when it's non-stop on the work radio it's hard to disengage.

I've only heard of 2 of them and never heard anything by anything of them I could name. Hooray. Ed Sheeran did cunt up an episode of Game of Thrones, but it was going that way anyway.

As a person partial to some acoustic guitar and heartfelt lyrics, I can only weep right now at this attack on the singer-songwriter genre.
(Though I don't listen to any of the artists mentioned above).

They all blend into one really. I quite like Ezra's voice but his songs are not for me - but at least he doesn't pretend to do anything other than write pop. Sheeran bores me to tears. I am aware of James Bay but couldn't tell you any of his songs.

Would James Blunt also fit into that mould?
Though I kinda like him because he's extremely self deprecating and knows he's a bit shit.

Blunters has got to be in there, surely. He's like the progenitor of that particular schism of singer/songwriters.

He is, which is annoying, as it'd be so easy to hate him otherwise, but then he's all nice & self-deprecating with a bit of humour.

I never hear Blunt on the radio but he'd definitely be up there. Slightly offset by how hilarious he was on twitter a few years ago.

He seems to be a really nice funny guy whose songs I never got into.
I was into David Gray and Damien Rice I guess before Blunt and the others mentioned above. Out of that batch I only really listened to Newton Falkner. But I think I'm more into the American ones of that period... Dashboard Confessional, The Weakerthans, Okkerville River, Bright Eyes or Bon Iver, etc.
