They haven't worked out how to use the tools yet?

Ah man I wish we had fox cubs. I saw one in the garden once years ago but it was just passing through with its mum. I saw my first parakeet in Reading the other week. I always see shitloads of them when I'm in London (you can feed them out of your hand in Kensington Gardens, which I try and make a point of doing when I have the opportunity). But yeah looks like they've spread out westwards. I for one welcome my new tropical flying rat overlords. Way more interesting that pigeons. We've got a local flock of maybe 50 that does passes over the house morning and evening. Pretty sure they use the power of screaming to stay aloft, so be careful what you wish for. At least the pigeons are pretty quiet! Aside from that, all I get in my garden is a gigantic cat and a bajillion spiders, which rather prevents me from mowing down my jungle.

We’ve just got the keys for a new allotment. Its a more secure plot than before when we gave our old one up because it was flytipped to shit with builder’s rubbish.
Plan is to get some rescue chickens in once we’ve got the shed up and veg beds plotted.

I invested in some bird feeders for the garden a couple of weeks ago and I have to say, I'm very pleased that I did. Current species list: Blue tit Great tit Coal tit Robin Sparrow Ring necked parakeet Blackbird Pigeon Squirrel (not surprisingly) and just today I had a long-tailed tit
What seems to be missing imo is goldfinches. I have a feeder with nyger seeds which I beleive they love, but no action. The seeds get eaten when I sprinkle them on the ground, but nothing takes them from the feeder.
FYI, I'm in the leafy suburbs of outer NW London.

That sure is a load of tits....
Goldfinch are beautiful. Hope you get to see them soon.
We have a very similar list sans the parakeet but with a woodpecker, Heh-heh-heh-HEHHHH-heh, and quite common to see buillfinch and greenfinch

There are woodpeckers regularly in the massive pine tree at the end of the garden, just not on the feeders. And similarly, I've seen goldfinches in the area. In the summer we moved about a mile across town. There was a flock of goldfinches that I would see regularly. Just need them to find my nyjer seeds.
I'm sure they will show up eventually.
I have an old camera with 12x optical zoom, so when I get around to digging it out of the loft I may be able to share some pics.

I think it's just Big Niger Seed putting out the idea they attract Goldfinch. We never had success with them.

No chance of much twitching with the number of cats around. We get blackbirds and pigeons, that's about it I think.

Not my garden but I saw an otter in the Thames a few months ago. First time I've seen one in the wild, I was pretty chuffed. I stood and watched him do otter stuff for a bit then he fucked off

I was pretty chuffed when I saw a kingfisher by the Grand Union Canal a few years ago. I've never seen an otter or a (living) badger.

And this happened repeatedly over a few days about a year ago, which was pretty entertaining Was it around nesting season or something? Wonder if it's territorial based aggression.

Yeah, that was my conclusion. I think maybe it was its first season and he was full of rage at his identical rival

Otters are cool as fuck. They look all cute and that, do that whole hand holding thing, but in reality are vicious bastards. I admire nature a lot for that.

The farmer has got his sheep in the field at the back of our garden again, and I never noticed what angry animals they are.
Constantly battering the fuck out of eachother.

It's due to them having tiny brains.
Still, it's always nice to see lambs bouncing about like a bunch of over-caffeinated supercoiled weirdos though

I had poor Terry in mind when I wrote that.
Now you come to mention it, it is perhaps a little coincidental and even theatrical. Sneaky fucker.
