I do wish you could save on a level, even if you only got one save. I don’t always have that long to play and it’s a bit off-putting. At least have it as an option and insult me for it.

Started this yesterday, seems quite a steep learning curve as far and has a lot of information thrown as you as well. But intrigued with the story so far.

Finished it this morning. Bloody loved it. 19 hours in total which I'm quite ashamed to say I did in a week, but in my defence I was bloody addicted to it. That doesn't happen often with a game. Just bloody good fun from beginning to end and I'm definitely going to keep messing about in it.

What guns are good? Because I seem to be 1-2 shotting everyone with the machete at the moment. The only thing I have to concentrate on is getting in their face quick enough, but once I am, everyone is dead, dave.

I've been experimenting with a range of guns but Strelak Verso is my go-to right now: two pistols that can be combined by toggling the d-pad into a 3-short burst machine gun - one burst will take out an enemy. Also, orange and sparkly!

I used a gold automatic and a gold shotgun along with my nail gun but, to be honest, I was shift and machete man towards the end. Zipping about the place lopping heads off left right and centre.

I should try that and experiment a bit more in general. I'm overusing Aether but it's fun to get close-ish and then use an upgraded Nexus on an unsuspecting group.

I was also quite a bit more Havoc latterly. Just enjoying letting things kick off and standing there soaking up all the hits as I mowed everyone down. Quite a change as the first 12 hours or so I was pure stealth, so it was good to be off the chain and muck about.

Less welcome: a crash 50 or so minutes into Updaam. I'd done the Moxie challenges and got the Sepulchra Breteira (sweet, sweet Sepulchra Breteira!). All lost. Still, the SB mission is a good one, didn't mind doing it again...but alas when I got the SB for the second time it was no longer glorious pink but pretty damn boring black. Yeah, that's the kind of shit that would genuinely see me sacking it off completely. I get irrationally infuriated when stuff like that happens. I'm also not sure I can quite get my head around not being able to save scumm in an Arkane game, let alone anything with an emphasis on stealth gameplay. I'll definitely be picking it up later in the year, though. Maybe when it's at the c.£20 mark.

I'm definitely doing the stealth approach. Every time I go somewhere I check out the area and spot some cool looking back path and end up always crouched, machete at the ready. I've not even tried gung ho yet. I've got the nailgun, and it said it was a stealthy type weapon, so maybe I'll mix some of that in too.

I just do as much stealth as I can now and then whack out my shotgun or machine gun if they clock me. My only deaths have really come from falling into the water and missing jumps. It's all a bit too easy.

It's all a bit too easy. It is quite easy generally, but I think the challenge comes from the invasions when you're in the middle of trying to make sure everything else is working like clockwork. Sometimes failing stealth results in quite difficult encounters like at Aleksis' mansion, Charlie's game or Fia's place - as shit starts to kick off once you're detected. Combine that with taking on more than one visionary at once and it can get a bit mental. I certainly failed a couple of loops when my perfectly laid plans went awry as Juliana shot the shit out me after alerting everyone to my presence.

I haven't had many bad Julianna runs as of yet so I'll look forward to that. But generally I'll always have my way out plotted ahead of time and it's a little too easy to follow the trail of breadcrumbs back to where you got in and get safe when shit hits the fan.

Towards the end I was basically getting invaded by players constantly, including twice on my final loop. Quite stressful.

Thing is, it doesn’t feel like ‘perfectly laid out plans’ or that you’ve even cracked the puzzle; because it’s all laid out in front of you by the game.
It soon becomes apparent that there’s no solving to do. The game does it all for you. You just need to click on the option you want to tackle and it’ll all fall into place.
With that said, I admit, there’s a mystery and originality to the game that I’m sure many will love. Had some good times myself too, but maybe it’s just not for everyone.
I thought the Metro review summed it all very well.
Cracking on still, sometimes having really good spells, thanks to the feeling that I’m playing a ‘Lost’ game or some kind of retro mystery thing.

It's essentially not too far removed from dishonored. The loop is a narrative device as much as a gameplay mechanic. The levels themselves are, like dishonored, open enough so you can decide how to achieve a particular objective, but you're still going for an objective. I was pleasantly surprised at how structured it was and in all honesty, that's one of the reasons I loved it so much. I didn't want it so that I had to try and completely figure it out myself, I need direction. The game has an ending and there's a specific way to reach that ending, again, that was a plus for me.

Had my best run as Juliana last night. Got all 3 lives off a Colt player by sniper rifle, shotgun and grenade. It is a lot of fun assuming you get connected to a lag free game. But I do think I needed to unlock the sniper rifle and a couple of powers to be a true threat l. Her ability to duplicate as an NPC is a nice idea but ultimately pointless, no human Juliana player is going to do any of the NPC idle animations and to really stick as close to mimicking an NPC opens yourself up to the possibility of the other player one shooting you via machete and your attempt is done. Unless you're lucky to be drawn against the dumbest Deathloop players, it's a strategy you can only really achieve maybe once.

Yeah I find the sniper rifle to be a must, as well as hoping for minimal lag. Re: the impersonation thing, I find it's quite handy when the NPCs are fighting Colt anyway. Players normally target Juliana to get her out the way in a big firefight, so it buys a bit more time. Other than that... I haven't had much use yet. I can see invasions just relying on havoc though. I ended up using it more and more towards the end as it was the only way I was going to survive invasions against players that were abusing it themselves.

Tbh whenever I bothered with the invading I just used havoc to become invincible and then just shot the fuck out of him. Put trinkets on that drain energy and go to town

I use invisibility to hide myself as I find a lot of players try to snipe me back from long distance, so by hiding and turning it on I can catch them off guard. Blink as well to get away or even close the distance if they're running away.

Finished it last night- previously I'd thought Psychonauts 2 would be my game of the year but I think this has just beat it. While the Juliana invasions are awful to begin with, once you get a few guns and powers yourself so you can fight back it really makes the game. There's not many 1v1 FPS games I can think of, outside the last circle in PUBG, and certainly none that have so many different options and variables. It's properly tense on both sides, outside of the times someone is just flat-out better and obliterates you.
The rest of the game is really great too- as others have said, a bit easy outside of the PvP parts, and it would have been nice to have a bit more lateral thinking required to solve the big puzzle, but all the individual bits along the way are really well constructed. There's exactly one 'fetch quest', where you have to get a recording of someone and take it to someone else, but even that's got a really unique spin.
And it's funny and interesting and looks really nice.

Impersonation / Masquerade would be a lot better if Juliana had a 'walk' and 'emote' button. Personally as Juliana I've had a lot of success with Havoc and Aether, and even though both seem a bit overpowered, particularly with the upgrades, they work equally well when you're playing as Colt, so I suppose it's balanced? One thing is that even if you're invisible, the sniper rifle gives off a 'scope glint', which I've used to spot more than one hiding bastard. Usually while doing exactly the same thing myself. One thing that is *definitely* overpowered is Blink plus a machete- just teleport behind the other person and stab them in the back. When people do that it's absolutely no fun to play against.
