Aye me too, so I'm a bit non plussed to be honest. My own fault for using all the flares obvs but the game was like "here! use the flares you twat!" so I did.
I presume I'll need to restart right at the start of the episode.
Although I did actually YT it and found one video of a guy doing that bit without flares but it's a bit fucking tricky. I might give it one go to see if I can fluke it but if not I'll go back to the start.
In all fairness, it's clikcing with me more this time so it probably won't be too much of a piss around as I think.

Is that the bit on Chapter 2, where you are with the partner who is shooting the enemies, and the game tells you to grab the flares which are located on a telephone pole? If so, I did exactly the same thing, used all the flares and THEN the game tells me to grab them.
However it only took me 3 attempts to complete this section without the flares. Just make sure to use the flashlight and batteries a lot, and also run away when you get swarmed. It wasnt too difficult in the end, just bloody annoying.

richyroo Yeah that's the bit. When he's got to unlock the door. It starts me there and he goes "grab the flares". Whatever man, I've already lobbed them all. I tried a fair few times but because Alan runs like an OAP I get swarmed, particularly because once you burn the darkness off them they don't get stalled by your light, so they just fuck me up. I'll give it another couple of tries and if not do a restart. As I say I probably won't end up getting TOO annoyed as it's very much clicking with me just now and it was my own fault getting too flare happy knowing what I know now. The worst part is, like I say, the lack of more than one save. That's what's irking me the most.

I could understand if they made the main protagonist an obese, 80 year old. Otherwise I have no idea why so many developers think it is fun to make the main character not even able to complete a 100Mtr sprint.
I just finished the Evil Within 2. Fantastic game but the exact same issue.

To be fair up until a few years ago I don't think I could.

Yeah it's annoying especially now days.
I love State of Decay being like that so you can't cheat a character death but annoying when a mission bugs.

Turns out it was, eh, quite easy. I climbed on to a rock until the door was unlocked, shone my torch on all the taken so thingy could shoot them and then off we went.

After finishing it I feel like I’ve had the exact same thoughts as I did first time around.
And again I want a sequel with more mystery solving and less being ambushed in the woods.
I do worry that a sequel could suffer from playing it too knowingly instead of playing its airport novel horror deathly straight like this one does.

I finished it the other week along with the DLC's. I enjoyed it overall for what it was. Love the setting and the characters (mostly) enough that it pushes me through some of it's negatives.
And I think I understand the story a lot better this time around as well which helped.

I'm fighting temptation. Alan Wake is cheap and available on PS4 but I'd be buying it as a substitute for Tormented Souls which is delayed till next year on PS4.

The main things I’d forgotten were how much of a prick Alan is and that there is driving and how terrible it is.
The DLC does lean a but too much into the combat for me which is a shame as I’d love more story

Okay, I pulled the trigger. My PS4 copy came in the post this morning, first impressions pop the disc in and you can start pretty much right away, it's one of those games that installs stuff while you're playing. It's funny how a lot of games stopped doing that post PS4 launch.
I hate installs so I appreciate them making it work in the background.
