This makes me very happy. (Well providing they've put some effort into the remaster)

Wonder if they are going to include American Nightmare?

Remedy clearly know what they're doing. I can picture this being a showcase for HDR

I bounced off of it a bit the first time around, i can't remember why either. I wonder if I was into something else at the time and didn't give it a decent shot as everyone else seems to love it.

I finished it and would struggle to go above "pretty ok".

I quite enjoyed it. Be interesting to see how the remaster is. It's been that long since I played it as well.

Yeah, the game itself was somewhere between QB and Control for me on the Remedy scale of quality. As a King fan I absolutely loved the setting and story, but at the end of the day it was a play through it once and forget about it experience (just like the other two)
Never got around to playing American Nightmare though, so if it's a decent effort and includes that I'll probably bite.

Hopefully they have improved Wakes stamina for this. Guy gassed after 3 seconds in the original.

This was a game I wanted to love but it just wasn't fun to play. Pity.

My overriding memory of that game in fact was a brilliantly epic hike up to a spot high in the mountains, fighting loads of bad guys to rock music, and Barry covered in Christmas lights. Damn I just wished the combat wasn't utter shite. I would play it again otherwise.

Damn I just wished the combat wasn't utter shite. I would play it again otherwise. This. I found the combat just tiring after a while. It really wasn't fun and I enjoyed the atmosphere and exploration far more and would always sigh when I knew I was going to be in a combat situation.

I didn't like it much either, as others have said it was just OK. The premise is interesting and it starts off being off kilter to hook you in, but it veers quickly into the predictable (though there are some really nice moments) and the gameplay isn't really that fun, especially the combat, which there is far too much. By the end you just want it to be over and it just starts to get monotonous.
I certainly won't be getting it again.

You put the like in the coconut and mix it all up.
Happy with this, hopefully they've improved the combat.

Roy Orbison is the MVP of the game.

Yeah, loved the little musical interludes at the end of each chapter... Can't say that I'd ever listened to much Roy Orbison prior to hearing in dreams in this game.

I never played this since I had the other platform for that generation, the enthusiasm levels evident in this thread incline me towards a wait and see approach, unlike some other years we seem to have a few other horror games lined up for the end of October period.

I'd still love to see the original concept for the game, with more mystery solving in a Twin Peaks style town.

It's a masterpiece you heathens!
The Olds God's of Asgard setpiece on the concert stage is still one of my absolute top gaming moments ever.
It's been a good while since I played the original game so I'd be quite happy to run through a remaster, assuming they don't rip the piss with the pricing.

In terms of ripping the piss with pricing it will inevitably be a full price game. I loved the original but no desire to play it again (unless the graphics are phenomenal). Hopefully lack of sales don’t torpedo a sequel.
The concert set piece was fantastic. So many good vignettes in that game. Just a shame there’s loads of wank involved getting to the good stuff.

Looking on line it's going be a half priced game. If reports are correct 2 is already on the way with Epic publishing it.

I know I completed this game, but I can’t remember much other than the combat. Not all that excited by this announcement, and that’s coming from a big Control fan.

I'm surprised that so many hated the combat, I absolutely loved it. I found the shooting mechanics meaty visceral.. Combined with the dodging and using the flares and various light sources I couldn't get enough.
Can't wait for this, definitely up there in my top 5

The worst thing about Alan Wake was the fact its Xbox exclusivity at that time, combined with the initial open world design being extremely ambitious, put more weight on Remedy's shoulders than they could handle, resulting in U-turns and delays that put a dent to the final game and Microsoft's lack of faith to a sequel...
I remember I enjoyed it despite its shortcomings, mostly for its atmosphere and the whole Twin Peaks/Stephen King aura and I would welcome a full fleshed sequel.

I thought AW was brilliant. The combat felt very different, novel, and appropriate to me.
It is such a stylish game. I look forward to replaying in 4k probably.

Loved it first time round, primarily for the atmosphere and the incredible lighting.
Don't have an interest in replaying it though if it's not a full on remake, I've already played through it once.

I don't know, have the digital re-releases of the PS2 GTA games had fully intact soundtracks? They would probably be the most complicated licensing agreements to renegotiate, if they're intact most other games should be. Unless a game does something controversial or is blamed for some real life event I'd assume copyright holders are just happy to take the money.
