Has there ever been a mass shooting in a death row prison?

Has there ever been a mass shooting in a death row prison? Careful, one stupid Republicunt reads this and we get "Let's give everyone that we don't like the death penalty and build more prisons to lock them up and keep them safe!"

And arm them obviously.

Well of course, the government has to keep the prisoners safe from the other prisoners with guns given by *checks notes* the government!

I know we're joking and all but they don't want to kill prisoners, it's all a legalised version of slavery. It's business, it's not a coincidence that most prisons in America are privately owned and that young black males are disproportionately jailed. Loan them out for 'prison duty', no one makes a fuss because they're people who need to be punished rather than, you know, rehabilitated and watch the cash roll in.

That and I'm sure there's at least a few Republicans that are getting a chub behind closed doors at the thought of "them there [REDACTED]" being subjected to what's essentially slave labour again...
Ain't no pesky 13th Amendment stopping that!

Crazy guy with a gun tries to kill US Supreme Court Right Winger. www.bbc.com/news/world-us-canada-61735321I can't decide if this is karma or not. I mean, on the one hand it's a bit weird for a guy to be mad about loose gun control and so try to use a gun to kill someone. On the other hand.. it is kinda logical in a twisted way. Don't actually know if it'll undermine the anti-gun argument or strengthen it.

Generally speaking, trying to murder someone because they have a political disagreement with you does not help your side of the argument.

Not quite sure that "in his own home, telling police he is going to kill someone" is attempted murder. I think you have to, like, attempt it? Right?

He had a gun and knife, took those things to the home of a judge, then got spooked by the cops outside. Maybe that specific wrongdoing isn't "attempted murder", but it's not far off.
fwiw I don't think he'll get a particularly harsh sentence.

Would have been interesting to hear the Republicans if this had happened.

I mean, I guess they'll just blame the democrats and the left, with no real self awareness.

This may be controversial of me to say, but I think it's wrong to threaten Supreme Court justices (and, more importantly, their families) just because you don't like a thing they decided. Actually you know what, I'm just going to come right out on the gangplank with the absolute spiciest of piping hot takes and say that murder, attempted murder, or threats thereof are not okay things in general.

Yeah, that's kind of a given.
I still can't help but wonder what the response would be if, for example, someone shot an NRA leader. Though I think I'd just be disappointed. They seem to be able to rationalize it away when it's kids. If it was right wing old white guys getting shot on a daily basis, would they still be able to do that?

Problem is, when the highest levels of government believes that more than half of the population is subhuman scum, you're going to get shit like this and worse.

It may be morally wrong but to be fair he probably is the best person to murder for the sake of progressive politics in the US right now. Like, his death would actually change things massively, and arguably for the better for many, many people. But yeah, let's not punch nazis or murder supreme court justices, sure.

Yeah, I don't think murdering a judge is going to change things for the better.

He's not just "a judge" though, is he? The way things are in the US right now, you literally have one or two people who have the power to make sweeping, transformative changes that will roll back decades of progress.

I suggest we murder the dude that plowed into that class of 4th graders yesterday, including a girl that had the same thing happen to her in 2020.

Every time I see the thread update I never know if it will be because of yet another mass shooting or the US still hasn't grown up yet and embraced gun law sanity. Quite glad we're in a lull between mass murder and I hope it continues.
I realise this is tempting fate.

It's never a great feeling.

As it was a manufacturing plant I'd imagine there'd be quite a few and some loading docks as well, guess everything should only have one entrance even factories.
