Balls, just got my booster invite for the end of November, but as I only had COVID 2 weeks ago I'm going to rearrange.

You can get it as long as you didn't test positive less than 28 days before you get the jab. So you should be okay by the end of November (assuming its after the 23rd or so).

I can't see what benefit there is to getting a vaccine so soon after a positive infection. 3 months was my instinct (90 days is the immunity iirc).

Very little I imagine, but in Wales you get invited for a booster rather than booking it yourself, so god knows when I'd be able to get it if I didn't go for this one.

Gah. Wife and I both have it, both double jabbed (AZ), and both knocked off our feet for the last couple of days. My dogs are almost as miserable as us as we're not allowed to walk them. Not that we feel up to walking them to be honest, I'm knackered just walking up the stairs.
We're due our boosters in January so at least that's sort of worked out OK regarding natural immunity etc.
It's proper kicking my arse right now, hate to think what it would be like without the vaccine.

So the boy has said a couple times now that the secondary school pupils are coming to his primary school on gym days to help out.
No comm from the school on this. Am I right to be a bit annoyed at them bringing in vectors from a higher risk group to the place where parents still haven’t set foot in in 2 years?
I reckon I should be on to the head teacher asking WTF

Do we know if there is a plan to roll out boosters to the under 50s at any point?

Nothing so far but I'm sure we will sooner or later. I guess us youngsters had our jabs later so less risk of fading immunity.

Do we know if there is a plan to roll out boosters to the under 50s at any point? My wife is eligible for the booster and booked in for this weekend and is under 50. She is one of the higher risk category (but not highest risk).

I'm under 50 and have had my booster.
Not classed as high risk either.

FFS, 4000 cases today here in Switzerland. Was always going to happen in a country with so many fucktard anti-vaxxers, so fucking stupid. Spain has 7 times less cases. Vaccines work, who fucking knew? Cunts.

I think this "some country has less" thing isn't really a valid point anymore. Starting to look pretty clear that everywhere is going to have to go through at least one big surge if not more regardless of masks or vaccines.

Germany sounding fucked. I would much rather be in a high vax ratio country than not in Europe right about now. It’s frustrating enough in this cluster fuck.

Am I missing something? Germany looks like it’s more or less in the same position we’re in, unless that’s what you mean.

Swiping through online dating profiles last night, most people have taken up the option to display the fact that they’re vaccinated, then I found the profile of a woman who wanted to make it clear that she wasn’t. “NONE VACCINATED!!”

Our rate has been flat / falling a bit / increasing a bit for a while now with basically no restrictions and a decent vaccination pick up. Germany seeing a fast rate of infection rises alongside poor vaccine take up, which is a problem.

Vaccines work, who fucking knew? Cunts. On the plus side, that's 4,000 cases in a country of 8.5 million. Whereas in the UK, we've got 4000 cases a day in the city of just over 200,000 I live in. Though, yes, get vaccinated. If for no other reason than it will reduce the severity.

Whilst the infections look bad in Germany, the hospitalisations are nothing compared to the UK right now. Will be interesting to see if it gets anywhere nears as bad as it has here.

We've had a major outbreak in my son's primary school, over 90 related cases.
I'm in the vulnerable category and get my booster in just over a week, feeling a little concerned.

Why does any country have to have another surge? low vaccinated countries such as Switzerland, Germany, Austria and most of Eastern Europe are now having huge surges in cases (and obviously hospitalisation and death will rise accordingly) whereas the countries with high levels of vaccination in Europe such as Spain, Portugal, Italy don't. Why isn't that a valid point?

Yeah, it's not yet that bad but currently doubling every 2 weeks so really not looking great with so many unvaccinated people. Which city in the UK has that many?

Why isn't that a valid point? The point is, they all will have their own massive surges at different times. Portugal had the highest rates in Europe earlier in the year. It all seems to be swings and roundabouts, usually weeks after "look how well country X" is doing, country X has a surge. And this seems to still happen in highly vaxed counties, UK for example.

Not sure I agree. Since UK got "highly vaxxed" and then released all measures, I think its trying to see what level that takes infection and death rates too when its just left to rip. For me, there has been no surge in my mind, it was been looking for that level - and it seems to be around 100 to 200 deaths per day and 35000 infections during winter / cold and I guess lower during summer. If vaccination rates stay contstant, boosters kick in and kids continue to get it and recover, then for the UK this is BAU.
