That testing regime to come back into the UK was a pain in the arse so I'm glad that's going.
I'm still wearing the mask when out and about but starting to consider not bothering. I can see the logic on a bus or a train but wearing one in a shopping centre or supermarket when virtually nobody else is bothering seems a bit pointless.

Found out yesterday that a girl in my kids class tested positive over the weekend. Managed to get through whole of last year without and cases in class. It's interesting, this time last year his class would be closed for ten days (just 4 days into term) and we'd be having to home school whilst WFH. But this year/this morning he's back in...with the knowledge that it's highly likely that positive case infected other children who will become symptomatic this week in that classroom increasing his/our chance of getting it. Both scenarios suck and I get both sides of the arguement but it really does feel like "Covid? What Covid?" at the moment. I was quite shocked to learn that schools aren't even required to notify the parents about the positive case in the class anymore. Seems a lot have chosen to keep doing it but it is no longer a requirement. Might as well just have the infected child come in and cough in everyones face to speed things along. |

Nope, Test and Trace are meant to follow up. Which obviously they haven't done. My youngest's primary sent a letter on Friday asking those with cases to get PCR tests. Pointless given the positive case was over a week ago now.

I went to the football yesterday. Wore a mask on public transport, drank outside the pub etc. And then went and shouted myself hoarse shoulder to shoulder with hundreds of others. No chance I didn't pick it up imo. But also, the policies aren't changing so we may as well get on with it. Same here, felt it was at its worst on the concourse and leaving the Emirates. |

I understand where you're coming from, but my perspective on wearing a mask isn't just to protect myself but primarily for the benefit of others and to potentially stop you spreading it to others. It's that example of if you're naked and attempt to piss on someone's leg they get it full on, but if you were wearing trousers they wouldn't. |

I went into my office for the first time today. Got an early train there and late train back, neither was that busy, as I expected and was surprised about half of people wearing masks which was reassuring. Not many in the office and encouraged to wear a mask when walking around the building which a good amount of people were doing. For me it’s the commute rather than being in the office that makes me really anxious, hence doing longer hours to avoid rush hour, but I think I can do this once or twice a week.
Oh and some knuckle dragger in a pub yesterday asked me ‘why are you wearing a mask, Boris said we don’t have to wear them anymore’.

I'm on my first holiday for two years in France, which is just amazing. Anyway, it is so striking how prevalent mask wearing is over here. Barely spotted a single person not wearing a mask in train stations etc, since we got here. Contrast to Saturday evening when I had to get the Tube and it was so busy it became armpit central like the 'good' old days. More than half the carriage without masks and people shoving into the carriage at each stop so hard a fight almost erupted.
The no mask rule in the UK is so, so dumb. Such a low bar to prevention, but mahh freedumbs.
