Went to an outdoor thing, no one with masks at all. Same at the local swimming pool for daughters lesson, less than 10% off parents were masked up.

They’ve clearly decided somewhere between 50k and 100k deaths a year is an acceptable price for keeping the economy open and no one having to wear masks.
Current numbers are still from most commuter traffic and office work still far lower than they will be in the coming months based on noises being made by a lot of companies. There’s still the lag from school transmission as well that won’t fully hit for another 6-8 weeks at least.
I don’t really get the plan when numbers are continuing to increase, if they were flat or dropping them I could see some logic.

It's hard to read anything but the fact that we are actively trying to infect as many people as possible. Not to mention quite a few journalists are reporting that abolishing vaccine passport plans was a bride to help backbenchers pass the social care reforms earlier in the week.

You couldn't get more modern Tory. "We'll only agree to fund social care if you remove all measures to keep the public safe at the expense of profits and absolute libertarianism" And when I say "we'll only agree to fund social care.. " obviously the actual funding won't come from them or their "the 1%" mates who make most of their money through dividend payments and investments.

That 1% on dividends is a massive hit on anyone under 50 paying into any pension, it’ll make next to no difference to their millionaire matters.

Well we finally got the text to get our first Pfizer shots on Wednesday. Little bit anxious about that. But not like I'm anti Vax, more of a hypochondriac. Plus they are giving it to our kid too, the other kid is too young.

Hundreds of thousands of people from superspreader demographics traversing the country to mingle in close proximity, many of whom are highly vaccine hesitant and have an extremely casual relationship with any of the basic preventative measures. Plus all the international students unis are insisting return.

Just been to the shops and on a tram out to the city. I am starting to feel like an idiot still wearing a mask. Usage is getting getting lower and lower. People are now being more grumbly about it in my work place. I will still continue but getting worn down wondering why I bother.
Just in time for winter. I'm a little concerned but hopefully the vaccines will be enough.

They’re still mandatory at my work but in shops around here it feels like we’ve tipped into a maskless majority.
I got a bus the other day where I was the only one out of about ten wearing one. Its supposed to still be mandatory on the bus.

I went to the football yesterday. Wore a mask on public transport, drank outside the pub etc. And then went and shouted myself hoarse shoulder to shoulder with hundreds of others. No chance I didn't pick it up imo. But also, the policies aren't changing so we may as well get on with it.

The government have decided to fuck it so I better get ready to have covid, if I haven't already. Feeling gaslighted by the general public here. I'm the idiot for continuing to care. *edit* To clarify, I'm not having a go at you Dougs by the way. Just the greater public that are just doing what is in thier own interests.

Admittedly I am feeling less concerned when I’m out and about despite numbers still creeping up. I guess we’re just normalising it all.
Having to go into the office three or four times a week instead of (maybe) once a month makes a difference for sure.

It’s mandatory at mine but at the big briefing people asked why they had to and did they have to if they went to someone else’s desk to talk to them.
I was in the supermarket the other day and it was less than 25% with a mask on, no one under 30 seems to be bothering at all.

@dave, I think People always have done what they wanted. Like when we were in lockdown and when quizzed after testing positive, people were saying they'd only been to the supermarket. Like fuck. They'd all been mixing but not prepared to admit it. You must feel very frustrated, as someone who (I think) works on the frontline. Caution has been thrown to the wind and there's no chance any mitigations are coming back imo.
Which is why I chose to go. I could have not but then I'm basically admitting that I'm putting life on hold, forever. I can't do that anymore.

You got your 5g chip yet Dougs?
Not being nosey and you don't have to answer but I just figure that if people have it they can start doing more things with less risk.

Yeah, fully plugged in since May. It's taken a while to get my head around trying to get back to some kind of normality.
Press have been briefed that pretty much all Covid emergency legislation is being binned, no more national lockdowns, and sounds like they are binning the testing regime on entry to the UK

Found out yesterday that a girl in my kids class tested positive over the weekend. Managed to get through whole of last year without and cases in class.
It's interesting, this time last year his class would be closed for ten days (just 4 days into term) and we'd be having to home school whilst WFH.
But this year/this morning he's back in...with the knowledge that it's highly likely that positive case infected other children who will become symptomatic this week in that classroom increasing his/our chance of getting it.
Both scenarios suck and I get both sides of the arguement but it really does feel like "Covid? What Covid?" at the moment.
