EG user engagement in general seems to be in the shitter. Just been taking a look at the number of comments they get on articles these days... the average is well down on where it was a couple of years ago.
I've been on the discord for months now and it's hardly buzzing.

Just been taking a look at the number of comments they get on articles these days... the average is well down on where it was a couple of years ago. I've been on the discord for months now and it's hardly buzzing. Yeah, I honestly didn't even realise that I was still on their Discord until I just checked there. Would be interesting to see their engagement numbers in relation to the different types of content/articles they put up. I honestly can't remember the last time I read a review, for example, that lead to anything approaching a decent discussion below the line. And JFC the state of the nonsense that would get posted on most of their shorter articles, especially if it was in anyway connected to representation in games or diversity across the industry as a whole. And then there were Edwin's pieces ... |

Deleted my Eurogamer account 6 or 7 odd years ago (maybe more?) but it will be sad to see the place go. Like most that have been around online for 20 odd years you learn nothing is for keeps, but for some reason it felt like EG forum was the exception. Although it's obviously a shadow of its former self, I've met some of my closest friends over there. The early G.B.C days will remain some of my fondest online memories.
I'm not a fan of Discord for mass open public discussions, I much prefer the forum format. But hopefully whatever is left of what made EG so special can live on somewhere.
