I don't think it's much of stretch to think that she has used her contacts in Rwanda to help broker the deal and convince the tories the idea may have merit.
If you really can't see any conflict of interest and who it might help then just keep those blinkers on.

The idea already existed and was deployed by the Israeli government. Which Home Secretary was fired for having clandestine meetings in Isreal again

It would also explain why Braverman has been in the thick of it since Priti got sacked. She clearly had something to do with it and why Suella ended up in the cabinet when Sunak took over when everyone thought he was mad to keep her.

Tory cheerleader Nick Ferrari was on Sophy Ridge's programme on Sky News last night. He'd asked the question if the Rwanda scheme would sway votes on his radio show, to which the overwhelming response was no. He was urging the government to stop putting so much emphasis on getting this policy through and start focussing on getting mortgages and utility bills down before they get absolutely destroyed at the polls.

Rwanda are actively pursuing partners to accept refugees from in exchange for cash, they have a similar deal with Denmark. I don’t think having a contact in their law department is a requirement to brokering a deal, I reckon if I send an email today promising a few million quid I could ship half the forum over before Christmas

Also the tories paid huge bribes to the french gov as well and the french just pocketed the money and did nothing then asked for more (the french didn't want them as well)

elstoof There was a question about who is making money out of this and why. I gave my take on it and you think it's bollocks, fair enough. Why do you think Braverman is so pissed off she has been pushed out? Care to enlighten us with your own thoughts? Or maybe there is no corruption? £240 million gone, no one has been flown over there, not the tories fault. Nothing to see here.

The question was
There plenty of corruption, this whole sorry lot are at it. There’s no surprises there

I just cant get my head around how they are so ride or die about this. Its now the magic bullet beacon of hope, the central pillar to their migration solution and even if it was signed off tomorrow, it would make fuck all difference. The figures would still be terrible and they would still be taking shit at the dispatch box.

All to send 200 people, that’s not even 1 plane full. How is it supposed to deter the 60,000 channel crossers

Well, quite. She was in charge of the home office when a payment her predecessor had scheduled was due to be paid, just like Cleverly will do if he’s there for the next one. Look, buying into the scheme being one big conspiracy that Braverman orchestrated over 15 years for a few million quid in backhanders merely distracts from the simple truth that she’s just another evil cunt in a long line of hardline headbangers who’ll fuck absolutely anyone over if if satisfies their need for more power

Ah the Suella apologist, love to see it.
I don't think she had a 15 year plan to send refugees to Rwanda but when immigration was going through the roof, you can clearly see that she has spoon fed the idea to the leadership at the time, which they probably lapped up due to having no clear idea of what else to do.
But you know, carry on thinking she has nothing to do with it.

The way I see it, you both basically agree she's evil and disagree over how much she's earning from it, which is besides the point!

You’ve lost me there, a Suella apologist?
The plan was Patel’s baby from the start, by some weird coincidence she was having secret meetings in Israel right around the time that Isreal was secretly sending refugees to Rwanda.
You’ve lurched from “Suella set it all up” to “she has links in government from her charity” to “she’s clearly had something to do with it” to “look, she’s signed up a payment” without too much joined up thinking on it. Of course she’s got something to do with it, she’s been in government for the last few years and she’s gained a lot of political clout just through a willingness to be seen as a nasty piece of shit in front of everyone. Of course she would run with this plan given half a chance

Its kind of crazy that this catastrophe could rehabilitate her reputation purely off the back of Suella being the same but somehow even more nauseating.
