I'm always taken aback by the age of some of these people, too: their sheer, inarticulate rage and propensity to go straight to eleven on the physical intimidation/violence dial. Regurgitating stock phrases and nauseating platitudes that have been spoon fed to them, specifically to exacerbate all their in-built prejudices and simmering, racially-aggravated but otherwise often impotent anger. Genuinely frightening stuff. I imagine Declan Rice must be well chuffed to see racist arseholes like that wear his top and number. |

It’s interesting that these people are very specifically ‘anti-pro-Palestinian’ as opposed to ‘pro-Israel’. I’ve never really known that type of ‘counter protest’ before. I’m sure it’s happened but it’s a weird thing. Particularly in this case as Nazis are definitely not pro-Israel.

At the risk of stating the bleeding obvious, the so-called counter-protestors were not counter-protesting anything, they clearly didn't care less about whether there should be a ceasefire, only whether they can find an opportunity to create trouble and fight Muslims.
When trouble wasn't where they were, they tried to go looking for it, and when that failed they made their own. There was no unfairness in the treatment by the police here and though I'm sure the (hopefully soon-to-be-ex) home secretary will claim it proved her point, the evidence strongly suggests otherwise.

Someone mentioned these "counter-protestors" turning up at anti-Brexit protests as well and they were certainly milling about Parliament Square at the protest in October 2019 as I was near some of them. They weren't being violent then, presumably because no one was going to engage with them, plenty of plod about and they seemed more interested in their Stella than anything else. Some of the people I was near to asked them why they were there and why did they think leaving the EU was such a good idea and, astonishingly enough, they didn't have the slightest clue about anything.
They're like wind up toys, turn the key on their backs and let them off into the direction you want and they merrily do it. They're mindless automatons.

I don’t agree with our police being armed with machine guns like in Europe. I do agree with them turning water cannons full power into the face of scum protestors who cannot control themselves enough to state their views in a reasonable and restrained way to disperse them and remind them they are well out of order.
If you have such excessive levels of anger do the right thing and head to a gym to punch it out on some inanimate kit. Leave it then well alone until you can conduct yourself in a respective way in public places.

That's probably exactly what Suella wants. Turn the water cannons on one group of protestors, but then you need to turn it on the next group, then the group after that to keep things fair.

Why would water cannons be needed? It was handled perfectly well without them, we don’t need more escalation or the police/government getting more powers to control people.
We could do with politicians not winding up certain groups and the EDL adding to the special list of groups.

I was in the pub yesterday and some drunk twat was sitting on people’s tables uninvited to bum cigarettes and tell them “the truth”. The “truth” turned out to be that he was angry that we wasn’t born early enough to serve in the war. Those Germans wouldn’t have known what hit them…
I mean, there were a lot of other wars he could have served in his own lifetime. But no, he was too busy getting drunk at 12:30 on a Saturday.
If he’d been around at the time he’d have turned tail and run. Patriotism belongs to the wrong people.
