It's probably alright if your in a 3 or 4 ton electric car, when on a 250kg motorbike it's a bit unnerving.

BTW we already had 20mph everywhere important like near houses and schools, I'm not sure the industrial estates are needed.

This is all playing into my pet theory that if you performed a randomised trial series of no or short notice driving tests about half of drivers, although probably more, would fail.
Certainly more if you factored in making them do the theory too.

For sure. I’m sure the vast majority don’t know what the white circle with black diagonal stripe means, or they don’t notice it. I suspect the latter is worse.

I've been driving 30 years and I doubt I'd do a parallel park to an examiner's satisfaction. Just as well I can't remember the last time I've done one.

There’s an alleyway I walk down with my son every morning that has clearly marked no cycling signs at both ends, yet is in constant use by cyclists (of course).
The other day I saw a policeman on a bike coming towards me and very much wanted to (but didn’t) give him an earful.

The change is shit, not all roads are 20 but loads just do that speed now and causes tail backs and a few more crashes as people watch the speedo and not the road. BTW we already had 20mph everywhere important like near houses and schools, I'm not sure the industrial estates are needed. Are people crashing, whilst watching their speedos, when driving past houses and schools? It shouldn't be a challenge to drive at a constant speed, and you should be leaving enough space behind the car in front to react to sudden breaking. The speedo doesn't change position on the dashboard, if you can't glance at it for a fraction of a second (as well as your mirrors) regularly without crashing into the car in front, you probably shouldn't be driving.

Built up areas already was 20mph, that worked great, it's joining duel carriage ways and fly overs off roundabouts away from peoples homes and achools, older or crap drivers just do 20mph all the time and causes the issues.
Part of the issue is older drivers who can't read signs and see people at distance, they just do a blanket speed no matter the road type.

If you're doing 20mph joining a dual carriage way, your license should be revoked.

Motorbikes and scooters don't pay much attention to speed limits anyway, here in London anyway.
Until recently a lot of London's built up areas have not been 20, so I welcome much of my local area in Lambeth now becoming a 20.
Time and time again I get overtaken in a 20 zone on my bicycle going between 16 and 20 mph (my electric bike tells me the speed), and about 95% of the time I catch up with the car/van and overtake it and another 7 cars at the next lights. I am seeing a lot more general courtesy in past year, for overtaking, but giving me a wide birth while whizzing past at 35mph is hardly much better...

Seen lots of horror stories on medical twitter about those. More the impersonation etc than misdiagnoses but that's pretty horrific. How are they unregulated? And what have Labour said about them... The issue about not having a regulatory body has been openly acknowledged discussed from the get go, but nothing has been done. In theory you'd just need to create a regulatory body (which can be funded by the PAs themselves, as with other professional regulatory bodies) but for some reason the government half arsed it and can't be bothered to correct it for reasons best known to themselves. Don't know why this is especially getting reaction now. PA's have been around for years now. The same people who are arguing for junior doctor pay are often vocal about PAs, which might have something to do with it.

When you get a PA being called a GP on national TV real doctors aren't going to let it slide.

Hang on so they're trying to make these PAs into doctors because they don't have doctors?

I’m a big fan of the 20mph and would quite happily have it where I live. Mostly doesnt get above 20 in rush hour Portsmouth anyway! The worst part is the car ‘feels’ like it wants to go faster at that speed - just on the nub between 2nd and 3rd. Which makes me think I’d rather have 15 for the school’s type areas and 25 for the rest, instead of 20.

Liz Truss Wants To Have Another Go At Delivering A Budget The former prime minister will challenge Rishi Sunak with an alternative plan, despite the fallout from her last attempt.
Its like something from satire show at this point

Without even reading the article, it's a fairly safe bet that it'll just be exactly the same things that crashed the economy a year ago.
Thankfully, she's not the PM or the Chancellor, so she can deliver as many alternative budgets as she likes for no one who as any say in financial decisions to pay the remotest attention to.

Surely not even Kwasi Kwarteng would get behind another Liz Truss plan now Even though she basically hung him out to dry, he would if he thought it would benefit him, just like the 60 odd people in the parliamentary party who apparently back her now.
