It’s quite amazing that he got rid of some of the thickest bastards ever to grace the cabinet and replaced them with even bigger morons.
I suppose the talent pool was quite limited but even so…

It’s all just a distraction though isn’t it, it scarcely matters who’s in charge of what as they all get their orders from above and they’re just heads on the block. As long as you’re thick enough to think an honorific or two and a few packs of fancy headed paper are fair exchange for sticking your balls in the shredder when they tell you to, the cabinet position is yours

Perfectly timed to hit the media on the very same day some ghoul wheeled out Gordon fucking Brown to tell us how wonderfully inclusive Britain is, and how our four great nations are actually getting closer together rather than further apart.
Particularly enjoyed how he co-opted Raducanu's success at the weekend to really stick it to those nasty right-wing, anti-immigration, anti-EU, nationalists in the SNP. Scottish isolationism truly is the greatest challenge facing global, outward-looking Britain today.

Could I humbly suggest to HM Govt. that if you want British shows it might be a good idea to stop all of our TV production companies and their intellectual property being bought by fucking American companies.
In other news..."John Whittingdale says he will be "stepping down" as media and data minister. " Yay!!! Although they'll probably replace him with another rabid BBC hating Tory.

To be fair, whilst that's an amusing headline I don't think it's actually too bad an idea. They also cite fleabag as being a good identifiable British show.
I guess what I mean is, the desire to see more British shows instead of copying Americanisms isn't bad in itself.
How you enshrine such a nebulous term in law, and whether you should, are another question.
And it does feel a bit like virtue signalling, because most British shows do "feel" British, for better or worse.

Indeed. That's the rub, what exactly is 'britishness' and who gets to decide that.
It's also bound to backfire spectacularly as the types who bang on about Britishness get all uncomfortable when that includes things like brown people existing and doing everyday things which will be argued as having it rammed down their throats and not representative of their Britain.

I don't disagree with that point, but the headline insinuates that the version of "British" that is being pushed is the singular version found in Only Fools and Horses. But as Fleabag is cited as an example too, at least it isn't tunnel visioned on one idea of what "British" means.

www.bbc.co.uk/news/entertainment-arts-58586493'Piers Morgan to launch new show on Rupert Murdoch-owned network' A match made in heaven. His long CV of bullying, insider trading, lying, phone hacking, more lying, and hating M Markle for some unspecified reason, probably helped swing it. (He's also going to be responsible for defining Britishness from now on)

It's all a massive,vomit-inducing cesspit isn't it? Well if you mean the specific event, a weapons-grade shithead working for one of the most despicable people on the planet, yes. But if you mean the country as whole, whose fine and respected press will be gleefully front-paging his ever utterance - also yes.

ITS THE MEASUREMENTS SPITFIRES WERE MADE IN! 3 FEETS TO THE BUSHEL, 7 SPRUES TO THE QUIM
From now on, anyone flying a metric Union Jack gets sat on by Ann Widdecombe.

Got to appeal to the conservative base. Old people and cunts. What normal person wants imperial measures brought back in?

And I doubt anyone other than market traders will bother, as supply chains etc are established. It would add a pointless cost to change everything again.

Get on board you lot. Even now, Rolls Royce are designing a new jet engine with 31" blades, to commemorate the number of Carry On films.

It feels like it’s not worth pointing out the irony of a government who ran a ‘don’t let Corbyn drag us back to the 70s’ campaign spending the day pining for Carry on movies and a return to pounds and ounces
